Title: Hot as h3ll
Post by: d3v1ld0g on August 23, 2020, 07:38:34 PM
I just bought my 2011 cvo rgu slate. Rides great but it is super hot. Felt like the seat heater was on, but I checked it, it was off. My and my wife’s right leg felt like they were burning up. Is this normal? Thanks

Assuming your bike is stock oh, yes, it's perfectly normal. The motors are known to run very lean and hot  for EPA purposes. You might want to read here:  Fullsac-Performance HD Touring models, Stage I
(https://fullsac.com/2016/05/05/hd-touring-models-stage-i/)  Plug your bike into the drop-down menu.

I had the identical model for a year. Wife and I agree it was unbearably hot. Traded it for a 2012 CVO Ultra which had the very same motor but was much cooler. All I can figure is that the fixed fairing on the RGU did a suburb job of keeping air off the rider and passenger - great in cold weather though.

My RG is a 2020, but we had the same problem. The bike right off the floor had V&H Power Duals and S&S Grand Nationals installed with a stage 1 flash. So, the cat was already gone upon riding the bike off the lot. I would bet the tune/flash was very off which likely contributed to the heat.

At stoplights, my fiancé had to prop her legs up on mine to keep from getting burned. And I don't mean a whiny "Oh boo hoo this bike is hot" kind of burn. I mean a physical burn on her legs. Even when moving the bike was very hot. We had never experienced anything like it. After a cam install and dyno tune, we hardly even notice it in the worst conditions now. It's now in fact the coolest running bike I've ever owned.

If I were you, I'd look into a dyno tune even if you don't plan on any more modifications. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.

Good luck!
