Hey all, new guy here possibly looking to buy my 1st HD. I've been a japanize bike/car enthusiast and I'm accustomed to these bikes/cars to just run and run but have fallen in love with the CVO Breakout. I've always been wary of HD motorcycles because of the stigma of bad reliability etc. I know i'll get some biased comments of course because i am on a HD forum but how has the reliability of these bikes changed nowadays?
i'm looking at possibly buying a 2016 CVO Breakout with the 117 and 14k on the clock. I dont mind dropping money on a bike or car but i do mind having to repair almost everything on it.. for that reason i will never buy another Euro car.. anyhow back on track. Basically, guys is the bike i'm looking at going to be dependable or am i going to have to keep repairing it?
thanks

Welcome ToXic
Not all Harley's break down, but if you want my experience
I have had 5, all FLH models and only 1 was a problem, so that's 20%, for me.
2012 CVO StreetGlide, I could have kept that one but there were many small things that went wrong.
Failed lifter, and a new trans at 4 month area did it in for me.
The other 4 have been great, oil ,gas, tires and batteries.
You should get the vin number and than go to the dealership and ask them to run a service history report.
Like a carfax it is only information. But you should get some kind of history on it.

Welcome from Sydney Australia.
Harley's do seem to need their fair share of maintenance certainly regular oil changes (using a good oil / filter). I have a couple of older Harley's 2009 / 2010 models and these bikes and previous model Harley's I have owned to be pretty good from a reliability point of view - current ones only have about 23,000 klms but my earlier ones hit 75,000 to 100,000 klm with no problems.
