Title: Jim Palmer Discount ESP
Post by: danner55 on December 28, 2018, 07:24:54 PM
Looking to purchase an extended warranty from Jim Palmer with Discount ESP.
Has anyone had an  experience with Discount ESP?
5 year & tire & wheel for $1998 with unlimited mileage.
My 2011 CVO is getting up there in mileage (7 year warranty expired}& have done some repairs on my own & was thinking this might be a good insurance as we do some extensive traveling.
Any thoughts about the trailer hitch issue as with HD's warranties?

Thanks & would appreciate all input on this subject.

Happy New Year"

Dan

Happy New Year to you too Dan,

The price sounds reasonable with the unlimited mileage.  Questions would be:
1.  Do you have any performance up grades that would deny any coverage.
2.  Don't know about the trailer hitch but I have seen it go either way.

Hopefully Mr. Palmer can reply to those concerns and if in favor, put that in writing.

Palmer used to sell an ESP from Cornerstone, and that one got good reviews.  I've got no personal knowledge of the one he is offering these days, and haven't seen any information on the site about it either.  I'd suggest you talk to Jim Palmer and have him send you a copy of the complete contract, then read that complete contract for all the gotcha's.  Every ESP I've ever looked at (I don't buy them, but I'm a curious sort of guy and like to check things out) has had specific information about non-stock items like trailer hitches, as in they will void the coverage.  With an ESP, you don't have any federal protections like you do with the factory warranty, so the contract is the final word.

I recently purchased an ESP from them.  A copy of the contract is attached and yes it does have the prohibition about being used for or equipped for towing so a trailer hitch would be a problem.  Jim switched from Cornerstone to First Extended early last year because he could not sell Cornerstone in California or Florida and those are two big markets for sure.

Always a major concern for us Republic of California residents.
