but yours is the first V&H that I've heard of...Sorry to hear you had all those probs HB.

Can remember a couple of others that were tight or touching with the V&H duals and the SEEG/SEUC brake levers.  Mine did when the pipes went on.  A little dremel work on the lever, a little body and fender work on the heat shield, all was good.

Jacques,

How do you say in French "there is no Santa Claus?" .....    >:(

I had to remove my rear V&H true dual header to put the bung in. After install the base of the sensor barely touches chrome cover.

BTW -- when removing the stock ECM, the top bolt holding the ECM on to the mounting plate (plastic) "spun" around without loosening.  SOB  -- I had to remove the mounting plate, "drimmell" off the plastic so I could get vice grips on the nut and the remove the bolt.

Everything else going ok.

Mark

If I'm understanding, then Nixobill, you have the V&H duals, you've fitted the Thundermax O2 sensors, and you do NOT have a clearance problem with the rear one, having made no mods?

I guess I'll stay with the SERT and the stock sensors for now...my bike seems to be running fine with that setup.

I don't blame you at all RedDevil. If I'd gotten mine tuned properly, I never would have changed. All I'm after is it to run right. Which, YEAAAAHAW, it does now!

Yes you are somewhat correct -- there is very little clearance (if any) with the chrome cover.  I would have preferred at least .5 inch clearance but I think this will work.  If I ever have to remove the rear pipe (like to replace the starter) I will have the bung hole moved.

Good afternoon Mark,

"there is no Santa Claus?"  in french is "Ce n'est pas le Père Noël"

But if it's for to say that it's was not easy because your little problems with the mounting plate, we have a similar words than you : "Ce n'est pas du gateau" ( It's not a piece of cake).

The problem concerning the dismounting of the plastic plate is mentionned in the SmartLink IV Tuning Manuel of TM, sheet 7 : "Installation Troubleshooting".
This manuel is a good support for to explain the installation of the TM.

Bonjour Jim,

Do you have downloaded the SmartLink IV Tuning Manuel and the Software ?
It's very interesting to learn how we'll make our installation.

More, I read the informations concerning the TM and A/T, more, I'm sure that it's actually the best product on the market. ( and much better than the stock HD system).

Bonjour, Jacques.

No, I haven't - I guess I should!  My friend in Chicago posted my TM&AT on Saturday, so it should be with me soon! :-)

Wow!  What a difference between SERT map 84 and the Thundermax!  These 07's will throw you off if you are not careful.   :orange:

Thanks for the french lessons.

It seems that there is significant variance on where the V&H bung is installed.  I would recommend everyone first try to mount the rear sensor while the header is still installed.

1) you might just have enough clearance...
2) if not enough clearance you have an idea of how much you need to bend the bung to accommodate the longer sensor or take header to shop to move.

Hope this helps,

Mark

Thanks for your comparaison with the SERT map 84 and the TM, Mark !

I need to put 600 miles before the first inspection and after I mount the TM.
I think that my dealer will not agree that but it's for the health of my bike .

Mark,
that's a great "seat-of-the-pants" report on the TM.  I didn't realize that there would be a noticeable difference in power/performance, just thought it would run better.  Hmmmmmm, that may be in my future.   :-*

I road 350 miles yesterday and it seems to be pretty dialed in.  No rough idle, no backfires or decel pop when you let off the gas.

I will say the gas milage is down.   I usually fill up when light clicks on at 4 Gal consumed (still don't know if we have 5 gal tank or 5.5 gal tank).

stock milage was 160
sert map 84 milage was 150
stock zippers milage is 120

I was driving backroads from Houston to Temple, Tx and was not driving aggressively.  I guess I need to read the manual and lean it out a bit from 2700 to 3000.  Those seem to be the the cruising RPM ranges.

Of course, maybe I need to also drop 40 pounds off my 240 to help in that regard.....

Cheers,

Mark

Mark,
I have the same problem after having my bike Dyno'd with the SERT.  Before the dyno with the 84 map, I was getting approximately 160 miles at 4 gals.  Now I'm getting about 130 at 4 gals.  I'd rather suffer the gas mileage, knowing that the bike is running cooler and will probably last longer.  I may talk to my dealer though, I didn't expect gas mileage to drop that significantly.  But then again, I do have a tendency to be more heavy-handed on the throttle now since it's been dyno'd.  Perhaps if I drove it more "sensibly", my gas mileage might creep back up a little.

I also share your problem with the "excess bulk" in the riders seat.   :P
