110 with the woods tw7h
« on: September 16, 2018, 02:12:58 PM »

Am collecting parts for a cam swap on my softail convertible.
Woods tw7h, use a .030 head gasket, deck the heads .020.
Plan on using v&h big shot staggered pipes and power vision.
Thoughts from the experts? Am I moving in the right direction.  I want more midrange and up than the 255's provide.

One of the worst pipes to use. Will want to get up in the midrange then die due to the poor pipe. Consider a D&D Billet Cat.

I'm not set on those pipes just like the looks of the 2 into 2.
The d&d fatcat is also on my list.
Just need something low enough to clear the saddlebags.

Truer words were never spoken.

Use a D&D Borezilla if performance is the priority. (which it should be). FatCat's are good but just a tad small
for a 110, although it would work.

Does anyone use Thunder Headers any more?  I always liked the sound of it on my Fatboy and performance did not seem bad either.

Yea  that looks like the pipe I'll be getting. So from what I've been reading those cams like to be run at at least 10 to 1.
And will I get there by taking .030 off the heads and a .030 gasket?
This upgrade will hopefully get me by we get our house bought then it will be time for the 117 ....

That is guess work as far as compression.
Consider actual fluid measurement and measuring how far the pistons are in the hole. Then you know where you are really at.

Most definitely..   I will be dropping the heads off at cycle Rama and letting Wes deck them.  And measure the chambers for me...

You'll be in good hands there. (I'd try to get them at least to 10.4) Wes will give you advice though. Let us know
what he says!

I'm using a Fat Cat (full exhaust system) and the TW7H cams, and could not be happier.

just my 2 cents
