Anyone Update HD Nav CD's? How?
« on: April 02, 2007, 02:33:45 PM »

I have Disk part #'s 76474-06 (East) and 76475-06 (West). After 1 year with these GPS systems normally someone is bugging me to update my Navteq sw at some exorbitant price but so far nothin'... :nixweiss:

Since many of the dealer locations were WRONG   >:( on the first one, is there an update anyone found??

I tried Navteq, Harman/Becker and HD sites with no luck...

I called HD Customer service about NAV CD updates and surprise, surprise, guess what they told me? :o That I would have to check with my dealer because they would know.  How's that for an answer?  The MoCo doesn't know?  But yet the dealers will know?  Where do the dealers get their information from?  Sounded like a run-around to me and that's exactly what I told her.  I got the "I'm sorry you feel that way, but you need to talk to your dealer."  I said why does the MoCo have a customer service phone number then, why don't you just put on the HD website that if you have any questions about your HD or anything else HD, see your dealer?  She couldn't answer that.   Life's a b*tch and then you die. :-\

So...
Plan #1- I will call HD CS and tell her I already spoke to my dealer and he has no clue ....see what happens
Plan #2- I will check with the sales guy to see if I can get a look at the latest CVO bikes to see if the Nav CD is updated for '07 bikes...
Plan #3- Wait a minute, we have guys on the site with '07's....Anyone know the part numbers for the '07 CUSE2's Nav system CD's?

Big al,

Couldn't anyone with an 07 just burn a copy of the CD disk for you? I undertand the new navigation disks are rather pricey. I'd be happy to do it for anyone if they just PM me and ask.

. . . we have guys on the site with '07's....Anyone know the part numbers for the '07 CUSE2's Nav system CD's . . .

I have an '07 CUSE2, the part numbers for the NAV CDs that came with my bike are the same as yours. I haven't called HD yet, but the dealer here in Amarillo acted as if they had never seen update CDs for this system.
I too found residential streets, that have been paved & in use for over 40 years in midwestern cities, that are not identified when setting up destinations on the HD Navigation system. I'd be interested in getting some up-to-date NAV CDs myself. . .

Now we're getting somewhere! THanks...

I love it when it says OFF ROAD when you are on a highway freeway onramp....

I hate it when it takes you to Joe's Bar & Grill (on the ex-site of the HD dealer). and you really needed the dealer......

I'll call the MOCO tomorrow and report!

Al,
Just checked my disks now.  Got my SEUC in November, and the part numbers are the same as yours.  It's still Version 1, which doesn't surprise me.

I called HD Customer Service this afternoon. After I spent about 40 minutes on hold, I got to speak with a nice helpful woman named Deborah. She took my NAV CD part numbers and did some checking. She said that there had been no updates issued for those CD-ROMs at the present time. She did tell me that she checked with someone else more familiar with the system. They informed her that there would be an update coming out sometime this summer, probably in July.
I had hoped that the release would be before that, since I would like to use the HD NAV system on the Posse ride this summer. I guess I'll update my NAV system later in the year and depend on my Garmin system (updated annually, by the way) to get me back and forth across the USA on the Posse ride.
I hope this helps one and all . . .

gholwich,
Thanks for the info.  I'm glad to see you got a lot farther with HD Customer Service than I did. :)  So far I've only found one glitch in locating something and that was an HD dealership.  The Nav system took me to an abondoned building.  When I asked around and finally found the dealership I told them how the Nav took me to an abandoned building.  They told me that it had just been abandoned about 2 months earlier as they had just moved into their new digs and that was the old place.  So that's the only glitch I've encountered so far, but not the software's fault.  So far it's been pretty good ... I'll find out more as I start driving it more this spring and summer and heading out to parts unknown.

The update I expect is the data (like HD dealerships and latest maps) not the SW which seems to work fine....

I don't know if these files can be loaded into the Harley GPS but they work great on the Garmin GPS units.

That file is for the Road Tech Quest.  That is a good question though.  I would venture to guess that because you have to leave the CD in the HD radio if you're going to do more then just the trip you planned, that all the dealer info is included on the actual CD's along with the rest of the POI's.  If that's the case then the only way you'll get the dealerships updated is when they come out with update nav CD's for the radio.

Been looking all over the web and this site for this topic. Know it is an old one, but,
here we go. Just bought 2010 SEUC , unpacked all goodies. Oh! I found 3 CD's for GPS.

Looked on outside of them before I made copies to use during road trips, all three have the same date and rev #,  2007 rev 2.0 I thought "cool" they have updated
the original software to the latest and greatest.  NOPE!!!!

When traveling from Arizona to Burbank, California to visit sister in hospital, was getting low on gas, so hit the "Fuel" button and the next closest gas station was
60 miles ahead at Desert Center in California. Checked fuel reserve on trip meter
said I had 75 miles left.

As I pulled off Freeway, BOTH gas stations have been abandoned. (for two years, the towtruck driver told me after HOG sent them to me with gas)

Only thing I have found out is you have to ask dealer???

When I picked up 2010 SEUC i asked them and got rapid blinking from them.

ok thats all I have.... Richard

I have received the same old CD's with the '09 bike (like in '08 and earlier). I just assume that they've never updated the content. Would not be very hard to do, as Navteq comes out with new maps every quarter. But that is driven by competition, while the H-D system is the only one available to Ultra's (and yes, I do know all the shortcomings, as I do have a separate Garmin and a separate Tomtom unit). I have a feeling that H-D might change the built-in to a more updated system, and we'll be left in the dust without new content ever!

So, if anyone has access to newer files (I am looking for the European maps at this time) and know how on how to load them ... please speak up!

Ride safely,
Louis

PS: When I started reading the thread I did not realize it was from early 2007, as it is still current in late 2009!
