IDS question
« on: April 09, 2008, 10:15:31 PM »

Question about the bearing on the Isolated Drive System pulley - is it a split bearing?  The bearing in my pully is split down the middle like there are two halves to it.  Looks odd and think may have defect but I did not install and not seen the bearing before it was pressed into the pully.  The split looks so perfect it seems that it was made that way but unsure.

Lot of info on them here.....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=16344.0

I drove mine for 1st time last week since IDS install.  It's smoother in parking lots in 1st or 2nd and shifts smoother too.  I like it.

Jerry,

The bearing is a double row ball bearing which has two inner races that meet in the middle at the split you see. Unless it's fallen apart, it's fine.
