Noise and wobble
« on: July 04, 2008, 07:23:01 AM »

Has anyone had trouble with a wobble in the suspension at highway speeds. Feels like a low rear tire. Found a kit called True-Track that claims it will take care of this. Want to get input before I shell out $800 for something that may not take care of the problem. Also see that the company came out with and IDS Part#40287-07 to get rid of the drivetrain noise. Any info on that?
No oil leaks yet. But the dealer had to replace the starter due to broken teeth on the drive gear. Other then that, she is runnin' strong and proud!

Shorthair, welcome to the site!

Take a moment & do a search on True-Track, you will find extensive discussion at various times in the past.  It is an excellent product, and there have been group buys arranged for CVO members in the past.

Don't know anything about the drivetrain product - perhaps I've missed those threads.

Congrats on your new ride & run it like you stole it.

Seems to me, you did not mention what bike you ride?

In any case the '07 Touring models can be retrofitted with Isolated Drive Sprocket Kit (which is standard on '08). I did this on my '07 SERK and would highly recommend it. The entire riding experience is improved.

Ride safely,

shorthair.....since you posted in the SEEG section of the board, I assume that you have a SEEG.  04 or 05 didn't have the history of leaking like the 110's do.

The 103" motor, for the most part, is a pretty reliable motor.  I guess the biggest exception would be the cam chain tensioners.  Switch to gear drive and you're set for a trouble free motor. :2vrolijk_21:    That's the reason most of us SEEG owners still have our bikes and some are starting to get up there in miles.

Looking at Shorthair's other posts, it appears he has an '07 SEUC:

A brother at the H-D store gave it to me the day I picked my red 07 SE Ultra up. Funny, a guy that was walking by said, "there is someone with more money then sense". Maybe he was right. But I ain't stopped grinnin' yet!

That wobble, and/or rear wheel steer should be taken care of with the True-Track.  It's a good device.  There are less expensive alternatives such as Ride-Str8 and TWR Missing Link which are much easier to install, look better, don't scrape the road during cornering, and in my humble opinion, keep things simple.  However, whatever rear end stabilizer you choose should remedy the wobble.
