Tru Trac Question?
« on: July 26, 2008, 03:21:41 PM »

Does the new style motor mount on the 110's (mines an '08 SERK) alleviate the need for the "Tru Trac"?

Think it will still have "bagger wobble"?  I haven't experieced it sor far??

This has always been a some-bikes-do-some-bikes-don't issue.  If it ain't broke don't fix it.

There are only three choices.  So it shouldn't be a hard decision.  If it wobbles try something.  If it doesn't don't.  Or....  If it doesn't do something just for prophylactic purposes; in case it might.

Which option are you most comfortable with?

If the answer to this question would be "YES", the new constructed frame would a major disappointment. Besides making room for an added liquid cooler, the main issue is the comparatively bad handling of the H-D Touring bikes. If this was not addressed, why did they go through that exercise in the first place!

By "new style motor mount" I'm assuming you're talking about moving the top stabilizer from between the cylinders and below the fuel tank to the latest position at the front head to frame downtube.  So far I haven't seen any evidence that this change made any difference in the rear steer issue.

As 2lane noted, not every bike has a severe wobble issue.  This can be related to tolerance stackups in component parts and in final assembly and adjustment, otherwise known as "luck of the draw".  If you haven't had an issue, you either have one of the "good" combinations, or you just haven't ridden under the right conditions yet.
