EZ Brake, How Did I Live Without It?
« on: August 20, 2008, 05:34:08 PM »

I'm going to do you all a favor and help you spend some more chrome money. ;D
I bought the EZ Brake and shifts a couple of weeks ago, put them on the Nana and just like the Traction Dynamics, a few days later thought it was kind of a forgotten waste of money. Yesterday I got on Elvis and immediately noticed a problem, what the heck is wrong with the shifters? Had to run back in the house and order the EZ products for Elvis. It is kind of like a remote control for a television, after you've had one, you can't live without it.
Warning: if you have more than one bike, don't buy one just to try it out, you'll just end up reordering more. :2vrolijk_21:
Never knew how much more comfortable my footsies could be after spending a few $$$$.

Ok, like Miker said, "Friggin Great"!

I like it all, so I can see $469 (+) being spent.  I really like the looks of the shift linkage upright - looks much better than the OE piece.

We need a Group Buy... Group Buy! Group Buy! Group Buy! Group Buy! Group Buy!

Sure, now that I paid full price he'll probably offer a discount to everyone else. :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:

Well, we have to have a Guinea pig  :huepfenlol2:

So, is the quality good - finish, chrome and fit?  Do you think there would be any problem with the break lever with different exhaust systems?

What makes them better?

ts a way more natural foot position for the brake (lower and more forward) and it extends the shifter out and down also, easier for both since there is less movement to get to them.  I used to have to swing my foot out and over the brake to hit it, then have my foot angled up...now I just kind of lift it and slide  it forward.

With my big feet they were pretty much a requirement.

Yep, I agree. I've found also I am using the heel shifter for the first time in my life since it is not taking up space on the footboard and all I have to do is slide the heel back a bit and press down. It is a much more natural position for the heel and for the brake foot. Also much safer for the brake accessability since you don't have to raise your heel / foot to brake.

Put them on a year or two ago.  Wearing a size 12 boot....it makes all the difference in the world.  The E-Z Brake extended shifters are worth their money, too! :2vrolijk_21:

Never realized such a small thing could make such a big difference.

What are you going to do with the original ones?

That is an easy one, throw them in the ever expanding Harley Davidson OEM graveyard (storeroom). I can't think of one thing I've ever gotten out of that graveyard to reuse but I keep thinking that one day I'll sell a bike and want to put it back to stock.
Maybe one day I'll melt all that chit down and make a statue of AJ. ;D ;D ;D

Just keep going MJ.  A few years ago I discovered I was literally a frame, a set of engine cases, a main wire harness and about $200 in incidentals from enough parts to build a Softail.  Ended up spending enough extra to paint the various tins all one color.  Still was the cheapest Evo bike I ever had.
