I love my Valentine One. I mounted it using a short arm Techmount and quick release detachable Techmount cradle. I used to think about the waterproof issue but since it's quick release, it's not a problem. It's a little hassle to pull over and put it away when it's about to rain but there's worse things to deal with, like putting on your rain gear. No need for me to worry about riding over the speed limit in the rain. If anything, I worry about being hit from behind for going too slow. But the Valentine One has saved me many times since I got it. When I've gotten caught by instant radar, a friendly waive to the highway patrol has always worked. Half the time they waive back at me.
Got any pictures of this setup?

Have there been any "real world" tests of the HD unit compared to the Valentine and Escort?

I've been running a Passport 8500 with a remote volume and visual lights. I cut a piece of 1'' wide aluminium stock '' easy to work with '', then put a 45 degree bend on one end, drilled the hole to accept the fairing mount screw and filed it round to fit.

I used vel-crow to mount the detector and remote. This works great on the bike and we can use it on all the vehicle's...of course it's not water proof, but you just need to be careful with it.

Am I missing something??... the detector is out in the open, but you still using a remote?? :confused5: What's the remote for?

yep, unit's exposed so I really need to be careful with it. It was hard to hear or see the alerts, so that's the reason for the remote. It has bright led lights and much louder volume to hear the alerts.

i used to be a firm believer of the escort 8500 till i got a ticket with it seems like it wacked out and required service ( a service required logo tells u so ughhh) they wanted 150.00 plus shipping to  recalibrate it, thier is a web site that ranks radar detectors and valentine is the best followed by escort 8500 and then beltronic x65.... i have never had a valentine but i can say that the bel is as good or better than the escort... and it doesnt require service...ill find the website that does the comparision and post...
