Oil- My dealership will NOT let you put anything but HD oil in the bike... yeah I know they aren't supposed to force you to do that but they do.

I'd find another place to get it changed or do it yourself. My dealer is now stocking Amsoil along w/ the H. D. stuff. I think they get something like $75 to do an amsoil change w/ filter.

Gulf Coast in New Port Richey Florida. I should double check because the tech who told me that was fired but I never asked why.

Well if they try to tell me there is nothing wrong again that is pretty much my only option.

Hey Robmay, reading of your posts when you got the 09, thought you wer pleased with the bike. After reading some of your posts, I got the v&h monster ovals. I have about 2,600 miles on mine and so far pleased. As far as electrical, there was a short in the antenna wire that the the switch housing was giving me a shock at 80 mpg but they found that and the radio plays much louder now with out tingles.

Sorry for the slight HiJack Softail!! Please forgive me.

I love everything about the bike except the engine heat and noise. I recently added the non cat pipe and had it ceramic coated which helped. I also added a Super race tuner which made the ride even better. I had a RG that I upgraded from a 96ci to a 103ci that I loved the ride of and it gave me good power and driveability. I may have to eat my words if the numbers are WAAAAY off. Then I will have to do some mods with cam spacers and such that I have read about here. I have this weird clattering noise (which the header addition and sert did not help) that does not appear to be the lifters (my take is its cam tensioners) and its getting worse. My local dealer doesn't hear it but another dealer 110 miles away does and is willing to go into it. I will let them if I cannot trade "up" at this time.

Same dealer that thinks there is no problem with 2 dead batteries???  ;) That is the thing that makes me. hmmm frustrated to say the least. I think they get in a hurry sometimes (okay, most oif the time).  :)

Update- Finally received an answer from the dealership. They said I had a bad security module, which was draining the battery. Of course they don't want to pay for a new battery and they want me to eat the cost. (I had to buy a new battery while on the road and ditch the stock battery as there was no where to charge the original. And of course I couldn't carry the dead one with me or ship it home.) I have escalated my concern to the sales manager for all 3 local dealerships who seemed much more inclined to see my point of view. If they had found the problem the first 2 times I complained I wouldn't have had to ditch my battery in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks again.

You know, I think you've given them way more chances than they deserve.  You need to contact H-D directly and have them explain to this dealer how the chit is supposed to be handled.  The defective module killed the battery (the same module they didn't find the first two times they just blew you off rather than do the diagnostics).  The defective part caused the subsequent failure of the battery, therefore the battery is covered and the causal part is the module.  They should do a capacity check on the current battery also, since drawing it down repeatedly like that will reduce it's life drastically as well.  If the load test shows a loss of capacity, they should replace it with a brand new one again.

You really need to find someone else to work on your bike in the future.  I don't think I would go there for a T-shirt, much less let them actually touch my bike.
