need help from some zumo gurus !
« on: September 20, 2009, 11:00:29 AM »

I have been trying to down load info on my 660 but when I plug it in nothing happens at all. My computer is less than a year old and runs on Vista.

It dosent even recognize that anything is even plugged in to the port??

Any Ideas ??     Thanks :confused5:

It's an ICON. Select Tool from main screen. Then My Data.

What are you trying to download to your Zumo? :confused5:... if it's MP3's you should put them on your SD card... if it's POI then you don't copy/move them to the Zumo you have to have the POI Loader to install them. May help us help you if we knew what type of files you are trying to move. :nixweiss:

Ok... that helps. You need to open up Mapssource and those routes at the top of Mapsource you will see an arrow and when you you put the mouse of it it will say send files to Zumo (or something like that, not at 'puter w/Mapsource on it). When you click on this you will want to send what is highlighted (checked) which most likely will be routes and waypoints. Once you've sent them then disconnect your Zumo, power it on and a message should come up saying that it has found new files/routes and do you want to import them... click on yes and the files (routes) will be loaded.

The files that AJ sent are in one format, but when they are sent/imported from Mapsource they change to another format so the Zumo can use them.

One note of caution... when sending routes to the Zumo you should never send "Maps".. .the same maps that are in Mapsource are loaded on your Zumo. Some have sent "Maps" to the Zumo before and later found that they have extra (not needed) maps on their Zumo.

Not silly at all to want to have the routes loaded on your own Zumo... never know what can happen and always nice to know where others are going in case you want to stop or not leave at the same time. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm uncertain if anyone else has sugested this.

I have a Zumo 550 for my 07 SEEG. One of the first things I did with my Zumo was to do an entire files copy of the Zumo. I put it away on a disk. When I installed some new maps, the unit completely failed to initialise and the only cure was to send it in have the files re-installed. I used my backup disk and re-installed the system. The unit was able to read the maps etc. Once the files are rebuilt, you can add your new maps if the previouse installation died.

This is just an idea for those of you with any of these GPS units. It worked for me and saved heaps of heartache.

Cheers

Backups are a good thing. :2vrolijk_21: Before any major updates a new backup should be created, as you know from experience it can save you a lot of grief.
