'09 Suspension Modification
« on: September 28, 2009, 08:15:13 PM »

Anyone know of a modification "dealer" installation for the '09 or '10 FLT, that allows a tighter turning radius?

Anyone have a copy of service bulletin M-1248?  May have information on modification?

M-1248, 4.5 hours ($400.50) plus parts.

Not dealer installed, but I have heard of one for RK's.  Not sure if it's valid for other touring bikes, although from some complaints I am hearing from Shriners, it might very well be.

Apparently there is a stop on RK's that prevents them from turning quite as sharp as pre-09 framed bikes.  Motorman on some of the Delphi Forums, Jerry Palladino, author of the RLAP video's, made some mention recently of being able to remove just a bit of those stops and regaining the turn radius of the older bikes.

I'm not sure if it's the power of suggestion, but my '08 SERK seemed to turn better two up in a two lane road than my new '09 SERG does.  It seems I have to do more leaning on the '09 SERG to do a "U" turn within a two lane road feet up than my old bike.

I think the SERK had rubber bands on the fork tubes that were the bump stops for the steering.  I haven't looked on the SERG if that's still the case but that they are larger diameter.

I'd be interested in know this answer.
