Amp disappointment
« on: November 08, 2009, 07:53:50 PM »

Well after trying the Bazooka amp with 6 1/2 speakers, I have to say I am very disappointed with the performance of the amp. Still cannot hear above 75 mph. Think I will change the head unit and try the another setup. I am looking for a high power system. Any recommendations? Thanks, :-\

Have yet to see one post saying HW didn't live up to expectations... ain't cheap, but then again, neither is buying something else and beign sorry, only to do it right the first time.

Hawg Wired by far is the BEST way to go. Nothing else matches there performance. It will cost $$$ but you spent allot on a nice CVO.

Hog Tunes would not cut it for you either.  I had installed it on my 07 and when I traded it I just left it in the bike, didn't want to take a chance selling it and then deal with the  possibility of the buyer not being happy.  It's ok but rather on the low end of the amp/speaker food chain.

For me the HW didn't fit my listening style. I sold mine and went with Hog Tunes system with the tweeter pod up top on the fairing. Much better for ME. I like the way the lower leg fairing speakers are angled slightly up towards the rider and it was half the price from Pez and 20 year guarantee on the new speakers.

4 amps and 6 speakers and I think I would have been better off doing someting in the helmet.

Highway speeds require a very high volume and if using an iPod ramping down the bass to keep from clipping.

I have had both Hog Tunes and the now the Hawg Wired.

Hog Tunes is a Great Improvement over stock but there is NO comparison to Hawg Wired - I will quote Don (2Lane) again "You hear sounds you did not now where there" It is crisp at 85mph and I have Rineharts on my bike.

The only problem is that Hawg Wired is so loud I had to mentally mark the volume setting ( I counted the bars on volume with the bike not running) because my ears would ring when I got off the bike from turning it up.  I have considered toning my pipes down because the Hawg Wired system cranked up is LOUD! and my pipes are LOUD!

I also bought my setup from Jim - he has always been great to work with.
