Things I'll never be able to live without again...
« on: March 31, 2004, 07:41:46 PM »

After about 6 very happy months of SEEG ownership, I've decided every bike I ever own again will have to have these minimum requirements:

1. 103 cubic inches (can I get an "AMEN!" )[smiley=beerchug.gif]
2. Hydraulic clutch (man, is that baby sssmmmoooottthhhhh, or what?) [smiley=2vrolijk_21.gif]
3. Trick, no-hassle, dazzle-your-friends built-in garage door opener (yeah, you can otherwise velcro your Sears remote to the inner-fairing, but it's just not the same) [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Of course the SEEG does have a few faults (key word is "few" here):

1. Supremely innacurate, although very, very cool-looking gauges (does anyone know if the tach is somewhat close, at least?!?)[smiley=nixweiss.gif]
2. Half-a$$ed part-chrome, part-rubber oil vent line (what is up with that for crying out loud?!) [smiley=confused5.gif]

What about you guys?

Your're Right!  This is the one subtle feature I like.  On my RK, I always used the TO at fuel-up.  Now I can do it AND have something to measure an overall trip.

Tunes, nice to have tunes when touring...not needed for bar-hopping but really nice on long trips.

Just race them! [smiley=6.gif] (if their old enough). I was washing my bike after a long road trip this past weekend and some neighborhood kid was scewing around with his crotch rocket while I was wiping my bike down. Well after a few flybys by this little creep, I fired up my RK minus bags, shield, and trunk; poped the clutch and did a full burnout in first long screetch in second; and hauld ass right past the little @#it. Course, my excuse was that I was just blow drying my bike [smiley=laugh.gif]. Accomplished what I set out to do..... shut the little bugger up. All he could say was "I did'nt know those things were that fast". [smiley=bigok.gif]

Hey 103T!  About the half-asses oil vent line...I agree...the funny thing is HD makes a full chrome vent line p/n33111-02 $39.95. that was one of the first things I changed.  PJ

After the Soggy Valley Gathering this spring, I must've gotten messed up for the rest of the season.  Rained at the Springfield Mile Memorial Day weekend and rained at the IL State HOG Rally a couple weekends ago.  Pulled the bike out of the garage the other day to do some rearranging/cleaning and guess what . . . . . started raining! Yeah, 'er 'uh, hd2003,
And after all that talking I did with the "Powers that Be", about what a Fine, Upstanding, and Respected member of the community you are, to get your Red-Neck, North Carolinian A$$, out of the perverbial "Dog House", you go and "Shamelessly promote yourself, and your Business", to 103T, in trying to close a Deal with him on a house!  You're makin' me look bad, man!  Read the RULES of POSTING!  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] Later==HUBBARD

My initial report about my bike in early Jan - 2 days before I took it in for it's first service.

Quote
Absolutely love this bike. It almost rides itself it is so well balanced. It is gorgeous, feels great, lots of giddyup and has things I did not even know I wanted.

Like how handy is the tourpak?

I could build you a house, Hmmm maybe a 3000' ranch w3car/garage and with an 800' motorcycle garage with air, heat, refrig and a lift. Yes with cable also

Chip, I was reviewing the proposal where you were shamelessly offering to construct my dream home in North Carolina (free of charge, I might add) so that every weekend could be CVO Gathering for us and Nancy and just realized you left off something I'll never be able to live without again: a TRAILER garage!  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Nope Brian

800 is just the inside on the first floor.
The garage that I'm building for you is a 25wide X 32deep inside.
Overall it will be 25 X 40
That includes a 8 X 25 carport area in the rear for the trailer, John Deere mower, etc.
Also forget to mention the 15 X 40 finished room above.

But Brian
Can't do any of the above till you make a committment to move here!

My B/B SEEG...and all the trimmings... hahaha.

Roasted a tire this weekend....dunno what I ran over, but it started feeling wobbly and slippery 4 miles from home.  limped it home and jacked it up to look...

Big roundular gouge right in the middle of the tread.  Guess there went that one.  Here's the weird thing.  I have 0 psi pressure, but the tire is so strong that it is able to hold the weight of the bike off of the rim, even at 0 PSI.  The air leaked out so fast I was listening to it flow out, but who knew we had run-flat tires?  Haha...basically.

Hey Doc........someone must of put COP tires on your bike.  The stock ones won't stand up like that, I know from experience on the rear of my '04 SEEG.  But, I've been told the COP tires will.........so, good deal!  spyder

Well...I AM a cop...maybe my dealership was really looking out for me....

Haaaaaaaaaa...nah, that would involve a dealership going "above and beyond."
Has that ever happened?  Haaa

I second all that!!! I dont have enough miles on my bike to have any major complaints

Morning PJ. That looks like an extremely easy swap out. Any problems doing it? Don't want to cut the hose and them find something else is involved. Thanks.

No problem Scream.  Just took a quck look in the pics directory on this computer and found something that will illustrate the oil line so you can have a better idea if you'll like the look enough to warrant the change.  Without the crossover pipe it is a lot more noticable.  With the crossover still in place you really don't see it all that much (unless you're just looking for it).

Yeah, but I've been advised by those that run em on their service scoot that they're so hard to put on, they'll probably mess up your pretty wheels in the process.  So, better stick w/ the stockers.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]   spyder

OTIS, My Man!  I'm saving my $$$ for Biketoberfest.  Are you going?  I sure do hate to miss it if you and that Hubbard are both gonna be down there.  Does Shrader ever do the Myrtle Beach deal?  I've got your cell # so if you're gonna be down there I might pop in and give you a jingle.  Ride hard and safe.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  spyder
