jeepster09,
Where did you get the info?? I am about to fit the filter adaptor but would prefer to remove the plugs for a possibly cleaner look. Even though I now have all the gear & correct fittings for the adaptor method & would have to get a couple of different fittings to fit to the plug holes.
If we are talking about the same fittings...I have a Screamin Eagle 103 motor in my bagger and it has an oil filter adapter with fittings on the front of it that are for connecting oil cooler to it. You can go to Harley dealer and have them show you picture in parts book that shows oil cooler hose etc, that hook up to it. If you have this filter adapter you don't need to use Jag style adapter in addition, just take out the plugs and install nipples and then install the Harley molded hoses which are formed to fitt right to cooler.

I believe the "B" motor does not have a separate oil filter adapter like our "A" motors.  The adapter on the "B" is cast integrally with the case, and the two holes with the pipe plugs at the front are the drilled oil passages for the oil feed and return from the pump to the filter.  If you plumb a cooler into these holes, you will be bypassing the filter (the oil will follow the path of least resistance).  As far as I can tell, there are only two ways to attach a cooler on the "B" motor; use the add-on adapter at the filter, or tap into the oil lines from the oil tank.  The add-on adapter with integral thermostat is the preferred method.

With the braided lines and tight install that looks great.  It's too bad you couldn't find some AN in silver.  (I know, everyone loves a critic.....)

Very nice install though.  Like that a lot  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].

If a Softail buddy ever asks about an oil cooler I now know exactly what I'll tell him.

Road tested this afternoon all was good, no oil leaks & even though I only went about 25 miles the oil temp only peaked at about 215 after a burst at 110mph, before the cooler would probably have got to 230, air temp about 85

cheers

FYI: I didn't bother with the theromstat as cold here is 65F but it is generally 70+. But I would suggest to use one in colder climates.

Awesome look Aussie [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] and sounds like they work great too.

Can you post a pic of the hose routing you've done for the other side as well.

Thanks FB

Hey Aussi looks super, sounds like it works as well, I'm going to look in getting one myself.
Got a thought here about the fitting, I will get the same fitting and have them reanodized
the color I want, just a thought, Nice job tho.

2lane,
I know where you are comming from, but I just couldn't source any silver, chrome or clear anodized fittings.I wanted to install it this weekend. But that dosen't mean I have to stop looking for them. It was those blue & red ones I used or put it together with the standard push the hose on and put a hose clamp on set up, but this is a CVO not a piece of industrial eguipment, so I had to keep it as smart looking as I could.

cheers
