95 " SE Perf /TW31 -Dyno posted
« on: March 20, 2006, 08:00:03 AM »

Well friends , after a year of accumulating parts I can now call my bike a Screamin Eagle , and she screams all right.

The build :

SE Performance Heads
SE 95" cast flat top pistons
SE Cylnders
SE adjustable pushrods
Cometic top end kit with .030 head gasket
Andrews TW31G cam with S&S gear drive
S&S reed valve breather
Baisley LMR-02 oil spring
SE clutch kit
Mikuni HSR 42 carb
SE air cleaner w/billet cap
SE II slip-ons
Dyna TC88-2 Ignition

She pulls hard from idle , not broken in yet , will Dyno at 1000 miles.
My seat of the pants dyno puts her with about 10% more pull and quickness than the 103 SE Fatboy that I rode at Club HOG.

From the dyno's I've seen on similar builds this should be right around 100-104lbs ft and 96-100hp.

Got 45 mpg on my first tank!

I've got a bit over 500 miles on the new motor , she's smoothed out a bit and pulls hard all the way from idle to as fast as I'd care to go. While the dyno curves I've seen all show a jump at 3500 , the torque feels linear throughout the range.  With 2 up there is no discernable difference. Worst tank was 41.9, last tank was 44.9 and I was jumping on it all the time.  I'll be getting it dyno tuned with the 15K service which will be at 1000 miles on the motor. Runs a bit ruough on decel , the wrench knows it 's running rich and the ignition isn't optimized yet.

I'm as happy as I can be with the results , and I know it will get better post tune.

Howdy Nidian, just wanted to let you know I'm curious how your dyno run turns out also.  Seems like we did pretty comparable engine upgrades. I'm not real knowlegable about cams at all so maybe you could explain the difference in performance between yor cams and the ones I put in, which are the S&S 510s, thats if you might know. Whatever the case I'm glad to hear your happy with the work you did. Doesn't seem like you had the problems I did with the SERT and downloads and all that stuff. Well, keep me posted on your dyno numbers.
Shiny side up, See ya, Jon

The S&S 510, Andrews 31 and 37 all have the same lift (.510) the timing is different and that effects where they come on and how they handle compression.

In a nutshell ,the 31's have the lowest range 1800-5600, the 37's are 400 rpm higher coming on at 2200, the 510's are similar to the 37's but have a bit more up on top.  It boils down to where you want the power. The 37's don't like over 9.8:1 compression , the 31's handle up to 10.5:1 .

Nidan, thanks for bringing me up to speed in language in could understand. That pretty much explains why the front end doesn't jump up, but she just wants to stretch out. It's probably for the best, trying to steer a 800 lb street glide on 1 wheel might not be the smartest thing I'd hoped to be doing. Funny, as much as I agree with what I just said, I still wish my bike had the power to bring the front end up, " if I wanted it to". [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] I guess this is just another strain of OCD in the form of horsepower, whadaya think?  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Hey thanks again Nidan, See ya, Jon

There's always the future!  Andrews is coming out with a TW32 from what I heard it will have a .570 or .575 lift m this would be similar to the Woods TW5 (which Andrews makes) , that cam has some girth to it.  I didn't have the budget to go with the roller rockers , and wanted a milder build , but perhaps down the road .

The other cam I've looked at was the Woods TW400 , have mercy that bad boy has some numbers .. 120lbs ft +for a 95" !   I'm lookin at a Street Glide as my next ride (will be keeping my Dyna)  and will probably fo more "Whole Hog " on it
