Dood,
I attached a couple of pics I just took, maybe these will help.
I asumed it was pre oiled as other K & N filters I have bought in the past were & would not need to be re oiled until after cleaning it.(I thought all K& N filters required oiling & was not aware there is a dry version)

Cheers

Thanks for the pics. I was referring to regular filters when I was speaking of dry (as are stock) versus K&N. My concern would be a regular paper filter (no oil) getting wet when washing bike. Still a little puzzled why I was told the filters were still back ordered. [smiley=confused5.gif]

The Zippers filter is slightly larger for a reason. I know I will have one when I get Punkin back. I wasn't aware they kicked out the stock filter cover that much.

DOOD if you want a big sucker call me at home today. I got a line on one for a fairly good price. (I think)

DAWG,
How does the depth of the big sucker compare with the Zippers wide filter?Does the big sucker come as a kit or just the element?

I notice there are 2 types of big sucker stage 1 & stage 2 which has a 20% bigger filter (I assume wider)
Anyone know the actual difference?

Aussie,

The Ness gets its' increased surface area by eliminating the taper from the TB side to the cover side (see photo comparison below).  This requires an 8 inch cover - not sure if your cover will work or not.

Jerry,
Do you know if the Stage 2 Big Sucker will fit with Forged Billet Aluminum Air Cleaner Cover? If it doesn't would it be any better to get the Big Sucker Stage 1 over K&N filter? Thanks

I'm starting to get a bit confused now! would the big sucker stage 1 & the K & N be the same? Then also the same as the stage 1 Screamin Eagle        29442-99D (washable filter)?

Cheers

The K&N and Big Sucker Stage 1 might be (at least similar). [smiley=nixweiss.gif] My concern with the SE filter is the deterioration around the rubber that sits against backplate. There was a thread about that somewhere (sorry don't have time to search for it right now). And isn't the SE a dry filter (not oil soaked)?

BTW - it appears that Ness now has part numbers for '06 EFI units available (suggest calling to verify if interested, since they indicated initially last year that the 18-500 would fit, and of course it didn't) - see info copied from Ness web site below:

While down in Charlestown for the Herritage Rally the Dyno guy ran a stage 1 Arlen Ness big sucker and a stage 2 big sucker. The stage 2 on a stock street glide with Rhinehart true duals had 3 more horsepower and 2 more ft pounds of torque.
I rode the bike with both breathers on it and being 5'9" the stage 2 rubbed my leg to the point it was too uncomfortable to ride.
I will be sticking with the stage 1 on Old Bessie.

I must say I was intrigued when I initailly heard about the 20% larger filter, but after seeing Aussie Mikes' photo's I will have to pass.  I'm sorry but that just looks like crap.  Maybe an aftermarket cover will enclose the entire filter, but the stock CVO cover does not and I definately don't care for the filter sticking out.  Thanks for the pics Mike...

I'm 5'10 34' inseam and have no clearance problems with the larger Zippers Air Cleaner.
Something you guys might want to consider is installing 3/4" spacer kits to move the floorboards out. Keeps your leg from rubbing on the tank. The pics posted are on the FatBoy with forward controls not Floorboards .
While your at it think about the 50mm throttle body from Zippers .

THE DAWG
Dawg,
Thanks for the offer the dealer gave me a deal on one that has been sitting there for a while (one of those items that somehow or another is missing box so it was marked down). Thanks for the offer, and if for some reason the one they have doesn't fit I may give you a call.

Just fitted my new wide air filter, I was not overly exited with the look (being able to see 1/2 inch of the filter element) but excepted it. But after going for a ride was even less impressed . I found my leg was constantly rubbing on my teardrop cover.

Weird how we all must sit a little different.
