I need advise on cams. concerning the S&S 585 vs the 587 redshift

Sorry I know this thread is 2 months old.  Just in case your still asking.  Not a CVO but I have s&s 585 ezs in a 95" tc with 11.1 comp. Original 20 year old stock starter with a bit over 100,000 miles on it and regular HD battery.  No comp releases of course and that bike fires first hit EVERY time and has since its new build 4 years ago. Was daily ridden for 2 years of build. Hope this helps.
