Yaffe Bagger Nation 10" Monkey Bars on FLHXSE anyone?
« on: August 29, 2010, 09:08:39 AM »

Checked out Paul Yaffe at Full Throttle in Sturgis and really leaning towards the 10" Monkey Bars. Anyone installed Yaffe bars on the CVO Street Glide?

Not interested in other brands just Yaffe.

Ordered a set to my specs.   :bananarock:

Contemplated this order since May.  Issue I have is that the MBB is a strong looking bar that could look to aggressive when compared with the overall front end and softness (nicely speaking) of HD parts.

I've spent a long time speaking with PA to discuss the best option for me / bike.

I want the MBB to sit below the fairing and not up in the air.  Plus most of my riding is fast country (England lanes) riding and did not want the high-up ape look and ride.  8" will work with stock cables or so PA tells me.

Ordered a set of custom 8" Monkey bars around 4 weeks ago and still have a few weeks to wait.  I have a plan to makeover the front bars, moustache and headlight.  Will report back soon.   :2vrolijk_21:

Awesome the 8 sounds good using all the stock connections, gets me wondering where that will wind up in relation to the fairing mirrors?  I really like the MBB styling and everything else I look at doesn't call to me?

I am trying to decide between the 10 and the 12 I want to keep the fairing mirrors, Personally Just don't care for bar mirrors.

I would like to be able to sit on a bike with each bar then it would be a quick decision. Definitely not a tall ape fan at least today? I really like the look of the 10, but if the 12 is just above the fairing I can live with that if it helps the mirrors. I am going to out Heat Deamons in them anyway. After all the years on Softails having my hands in the wind isn't a concern for me.

I have a custom Corbin seat on order and I really want to see where that puts me before I change the bars.

Looking forward to pictures of your install

I have a corbin solo like a few others have.  It placed me an inch higher initially.  We've just returned from a 3800 mike round trip from London to Malaga, Spain and have to say that the bike's bars and seating position is now perfect.  It's dropped back to stock and a little further back - best seat of all times IMHO.  I'm sort of in two minds whether or not to change the bars.  Part of me says no.

Problem is that I have a spiced rum inner fairing one week away from delivery, a set of the MBB's, new mirrors, lights etc etc and it's either a re-sell or I just do it.

The 8" will keep stock cables, but you will lose the fairing mirrors.  The position of the 8" is just above the top of the speaker.

I'm fully expecting the bike of my dreams or a complete mess making exercise to the tune of £3k.

Cheers

Like Nike's slogan says "Just do it!" I am sure you'll love it.  :2vrolijk_21:

Glad to hear you like so many others love you Corbin I like yours better as I got the Dual Tour but the BSR wanted Heat too! Gotta keep her happy!

If I recall correctly you taller than I one of my concerns is the shorter pullback on the MBB I'm vertically challenged at a 31 inseam and 32 inch sleeve.

However as I sit and imagine it seems the higher position actually closes the gap some? I'm going to do it regardless it's the only way to know for sure.

We hope someday to go to one of the European Rally's maybe I'll get to see your's in person some time  :nixweiss:

Your right.  I'm 6'5" and have ape arms.  Keeping close to stock feel is important, but having them a few inches higher and further away will help.  I see on the inside back cover of American Iron in either July or August there's an advert of a mustang seat on a Street Glide in burgundy.  The guy's not huge and the bike has the 12 MBB - looks nice with the kury lights and a few mods.

European tours are the way to go.  Get your bike shipped here if and when, use my place as a base and head out  :2vrolijk_21:

I'm with you, the proof is in the pudding and given the amount of time I've been thinking about it there's no choice but to go for gold.  Expect pictures early October unless someone here want's to come for a trip and replace the inner fairing and bars for me??

Cheers,

YES and I absolutly love them...
I have them on my 09 S/G
They (hand grips) come up just above the speakers housing...
just the look I was seeking...I didn't want anything above the fairing since I ride in the winter time...
I didn't want the 10 575's since I felt they would be a bit short so I opted for the 10" PYO Monkey bars, which actually measure closer to 11"...I also felt that I wanted the additional 30* angle built in the rise of the bar...
if you go to his site there are several pics there that have all the various heights of the bars in comparison to where they will sit on the inner fairing...
here's another link and on the 2nd page you'll see there are several pics from various angles...
http://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/494823-pyo-monkey-bars-finallyyyyyyy-2.html
Also for what its worth I went with 4" over on my lines...Could have gotten away with 2" on the brake line and 4" on the clutch...The wires on the right side was the most time consuming out of all I had to do...
paul
Also If you want a set of 10" chrome I know where 1 set is so you won't have to wait...

Those are the same height as mine...So I would have to say YES they are the 10"...
Get ahold of DCCDFW.com and tell him I sent you...He has 2 sets, one 10" and either 12" or 14" on his rack...
enjoy

ordered them today they shipped today from directharleyparts.com 319.95 shipped I purchased the 12.5 " MBB-125-c
I liked the 10" but was afraid I would lose the fairing mirrors and don't want to. Besides the majority of posts I read users stated over and over I wish I went one size up? if they had 12's they wanted 14's if they had 14's they wanted 16's so I figured what the heck go for it!

Please excuse my next question due to niavete,

What is the purpose of those?

I realize how stupid that question may be, considering all the other stupid stuff  we put on our bikes.
after all it is a bagger

looks?
fit?
handling?

To my eye it looks like it puts your hands in direct weather (no bat wing protection) and not sure it is better for handling,
so that leaves looks and Fit

Hey Wheels, do you know what all is needed to go with 10"s MBB's?  Are new cables and wiring required?  If so, what length?  I am wanting to do this, but I wanna swap out to stainless lines if needed.

Thanks,
