I have not tried the new 440s.You know I always want more or better. For example on my last cruiser the only thing that was stock was the key switch and kickstand. It was everything I wanted in that particular bike. Then I sold it because I had to have the FLHTCSE2. I have less than 2000 miles on my SE2 and last month I did some double up high speed touring around the Fredricksburg, Austin area in Texas. I thought the stock suspension worked well and I weigh 220 lbs plus a 100 lb passenger. I am sure that after sometime and some miles the stock suspension wont work as well and it will be repalced. But for now LESS IS MORE.  [smiley=confused5.gif]  [smiley=bigok.gif] [smiley=shocked2.gif] [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

The 440's are the way to go.I also found the air line was pinched on one side? Now that the new shocks are on ,I dont think the stock seat is all that bad.

I have had my 440's on for about 3 weeks now.
I wouldn't say the ride is "1970's GM float on a cloud ride", but the the ride now over bridge expansion joints on the Garden State Parkway (New Jersey) was worth the price alone.
Before I had to stand on the pegs, now it is smooth sailing.

Might be a bad choice of a phrase, "smooth sailing", with the screen name "porthole" you guys might think I was a "blow boater" "rag bagger" etc. (sail boter)

Ahoy, Porthole!  Let's not go chosing sides according to sail or motor power........'cause I'm probably not the only 'rag-bagger' on this site.  Why can't we just all get along and be a little more tolerant of the different 'strokes'????  Pretty soon it'll be East........West, North........South, Sail........Power, Chip.........Tater, etc, etc......the common thread here is:  CVO's!!!   Har!   [smiley=bandana.gif]  Cap't Spyder

Put abput 220 miles on the 440's today. Definitely say they ride much better than the air shock. Set them on 2 turns to start, then softer to 1

doubt that side had any air getting to it. That explains partly why the ride was so crummy. I'm looking forward to the new ride quality!!

Unfortunately being inflated or not wouldn't have made a tremendous amount of difference.  They seemingly all leak down so eventually most of us have ridden without air for a bit without realizing it.  The original Showa's are just poor enough that you don't tell a lot of difference.

I have a new bike being delivered next week. Question can I get the Progressive Part numbers for the 12's and the 12.5's. After reading this trend it seesm like a no brainer to change out the shocks.

I have 300 miles on since installing the 440's. You guys were right! Worth every dollar. I had to underinflate rear tire by 5psi with passenger with stock air shock just to be rideable. DID not matter what psi was used in airshock, bumps jolted the spine. This is now gone! Used #440-4019B 12.5" heavy duty, 3 full turns from softest. Ride 2up most of time. Total weight bike loaded 365to390lbs. Got shocks from Walley's Cycle World as recomended by rep at Progressive. Many thanks to all for getting me onto this...
