On a cool down cycle now.  In a bit will go back out and run it again.  Then let it cool down once more while probably changing the front pads and putting the lower back on.  But it's running again.

It sucks only doing something like this in 45 minute to hour chunks on too many evenings.  Chromemoly termites can rear the heads and cause you all kinds of grief.  But at least it's finally buttoned up.

Of course no way to know yet how it's going to run.  Did have some first impressions from the time on the lift though:

First impression of the sound of the 2-1s at idle and a little above is that I'm really going to like these Fatcats with the quiet baffle.  At least for their sound.  Nice throaty low rumble.  Not too loud.  Nice crisp rap to them when you open the throttle just a bit.  First impressions there are very good.

This is no measure of performance at all.  So don't read any more in to this than what it is.  The motor is quicker than it was before.  By that I mean it leaves idles and wraps up sharper and more quickly.  Noticably so.  If that's indicative of anything later it'll be a good thing.  One thing that I didn't like before was that it was a bit slow to wind up.

I like the sound of the top end.  One of the changes included using the TP rocker boxes with their solid one piece rocker supports and their roller rockers.  The slightly different mechanical sounds from the top end are pleasing.  It's also a nice harmony with the complementary sounds of the gear drive cams down below.  None of it is loud, obnoxious, or sounds at all harsh.  Just a nice sweet sound of pieces that sound like they belong together.  It's pleasant.

If the weather allows it the bike will be on the dyno tomorrow afternoon.  Weather is iffy though.  If not it won't be on the dyno until after the tuner comes back from Daytona.  So I'm hoping for tomorrow.

I have to comment that those shocks in your first picture do look like they would be right at home on a SERG.

hehehehe, already got a PM about "what's in there?"

This had gone on long enough guess I just assumed it was a known quantity.  Never unwilling to talk about my bike though.  This will be everything there even if not done recently.  The recent corrections/additions will be (of course!) in red.  Here goes:


The Buttonfly Resurrection

Stock untouched bottom end
GP bearing support is installed
Primary chain tensioner is in there too
50 mm throttle body and intake
Feuling oil pump, lifters and cam plate
Dave Mackie 598 gear drive cams
Axtell 3 15/16 cylinders for 107" along with Axtell pistons, static CR approx 10.25:1
HTCC CNC ported heads tweaked to mate with with the Axtell jugs and pistons
D&D Fatcat 2-1 exhaust


Guess that's it.  If I missed anything someone will point it out.
