Probably not, but you can check w/your dealer. Sometimes dealers (if you have a good one) will take care of you on their own. :2vrolijk_21:

You may be SOL then.... they (MoCo) halfway wants to take care of stuff that is still under warranty. :(

Let us know how it goes... Good luck. :2vrolijk_21:

HD had lots of problems with this with the 04.  But you're six years in to use now.  I wouldn't even ask.

Don't even think extended warranties went out that far, did they?

I've got one (previously replaced under warranty) floorboard that's bubbling again.  Figure this one's on me. :-\

They could go five years plus the original two.  But this wouldn't be accepted as a failure.  After that much time it's purely cosmetic and would be handled accordingly.  Y'know what, after that much time it really is though.  Manufacturing problems would've showed up already on anything except for bikes that got almost no use.

I traded my 2004 SEEG B/B in September/09 for a 2010 ULTRA Limited, the guy who bought the SEEG had the peeling front rim replaced by the dealer (Gasoline Alley Harley Davidson, Red Deer, Alberta) because he bought the warranty, that they offered to him on a used HD. I guess it depends on the dealer and if they will back you up.

My wheels were replaced two times under warranty started peeling this year went to Dealership they took pictures and sent them to the MOCO couple weeks later answer was NO so my Dealer said no problem we will cover them  :nixweiss: something about the Dealerships have away to cover a certain amount of warranty per year dont really know how that works but I got new wheels and did not ask any questions  :)

I had mine re-chromed and seems to be just fine..  Their chrome plating sucked big time on those 04 wheels. Just about everyone  I know of has had em where they just flake off.   Good luck with HD.  You sure will need it.

IF H-D is set up like the auto company I used to work for, good dealers are given authority to approve a certain amount of "Goodwill Policy Adjustments" on their own authority, and the manufacturer picks up the tab just like a warranty claim.  Perhaps this is what happened in your situation.  When I dealt with this sort of thing in the auto business, it wasn't something that all dealer's could do however.  The dipchits and crooks need not apply; the authority was granted based on various performance criteria related to customer satisfaction, warranty expense, etc.

Just rode my Seeg over to a friend's house to store it in his garage for winter. He has a 2004 Seeg also and noticed this summer his wheels are peeling too!!! I'm going to state both ours cases to Harley at the same time and see what they will do. His has 12,000 miles and mine 15,000 miles and never been ridden on roads in the winter.

They thing that upsets me the most is they (MoCo) braggs about their chroming process being better then any other.... If that's the case back up your words.... offer a lifetime guarantee. :soapbox: Not like they aren't charging premium prices for this stuff.

Fortunately I haven't had any trouble with my '05 and the rims peeling. (touch wood)

However, I think I picked up a stone in my boot a while back and took a chunk out the chrome on the floorboard.  Over the past couple of years it's been getting worse.

Good news is and this may be the case with you as well...  There is not a lot of call for those floorboard covers nowadays and as luck would have it I wasn't looking, but found a set that originally was priced at $292.00 cnd marked down on sale to blow them out at $59.00.  Great deal, eh!  Well after a little further negotiating I walked out after paying $35.00.

Keep your hears and eyes open and you just might find a dealer trying to get rid of a set of rims and floorboards at a "steal of a deal".

I wish you the best of luck with your search as I highly doubt the MoCo will do anyting after such a long time.

My seeg went to the dealer for it's 15k check up and pictures of the peeling wheels and floor boards today. First it wouldn't start! Battery was shot! Now i need two new tires and a broken exhaust bracket by the trans cover. And they think oil pressure is low at idle speed? They think it's a sticking relief valve? Hope to have a answer from HD on Monday. :pumpkin:

Sounds like sitting in 'storage' took it's toll on the ole punkin.  Nothing a zillion bucks won't take care of though.  Well, maybe it won't be that bad.  Whatever, it's well worth it to be riding the SEEG down the road again.  Let us know how it turns out and when you get her back.  :2vrolijk_21:  spyder

I traded my 04 B/B SEEG last Sept for a 2010 ULTRA Limited. it had 24,000 miles. They sold the bike that same day. The guy who bought the bike noticed the Chrome Peeling right away, pointed it out to the dealer, I do not know if the dealer or HD replaced the faulty rim, he did get a new rim no charge. Also, I think he bought the ESP.

hmmmm......  I bought the ESP and told them I wanted my blistering rear rim replaced.  The dealer said since I didn't buy the additional wheel warranty they couldn't do it.  Thanks for the info.  :2vrolijk_21:

Ask them to show you where it says in the wheel/tire warranty that it will cover cosmetic (peeling chrome is considered cosmetic) damage..... it will not be there. >:(

I had so many [52] chrome issues with my 04 that Harley voided my warranty and had the dealer that sold me the ESP send me a check for the remainder of my warranty. Included in those 52 were 4 rear rims and 5 front, 7 sets of rider floorboards, 5 rear, 3 primaries 19 other misc chrome issues

Call customer service and tell them the problems you have had with chrome.

Harley gives each dealership $2000 a year for good customer service. Mother Harley will push the dealership to give you new wheels and the moneys willl come from their $2000. Dealerships are stubborn on this...but a good customer has more pull

I am a new owner of an '04 SEEG with peeling chrome on the wheels.  I would also like to switch to a taller front tire.  Has anyone ever tried putting a 19 inch Detonator wheel intended for a Sportster or Dyna on one of these bikes?  It would match the rear wheel and be an appearance upgrade, and do away with half of my wheel chrome issue.

This wheel is set up for dual rotors.  I would imagine that custom wheel spacers will be required, but I'm not sure if the rotor width will match the stock wheel?

There is one of these wheels on EBAY now for $475.

Figures, I think I'm just going to have mine rechromed and stick with the common sized tires, I do a fair bit of traveling and it would be a good idea to stick with common tires.

OMG....I bought this pristine 04 Pumpkin in Nov 2010 with 1400 mile...yes...1400...I now have 2400 and took it out today for a good cleaning. Just took the lowers off yesterday, these Fla summers be as hot as they are. Anyhow...there was some pitting...here..there...all cleaned up no problem...my floorboards ...perfect..........my wheels.....UNBELIEVABLE....pitted...peeling.......Now perhaps I should have really given her the once over sooner...but the bike was very clean. I'm certainly not as young as I used to be, and with a fractured vertabrae and leg issues, its hard to get down and detail regularly....but these wheels are a total mess. I've bought 3 new bikes from Harley ...the last 2 in 04 and 07.....what number do I call at the MOCO...I certainly don't see Rossmeyer's helping me...as I said...I am the second owner...and I don't go near them if I can help it.

The 04 wheels pit,, Plain and simple and when you replace them, they will pit again. I had bought a new whebb for the front and had the old one re-chromed.. I still have the new one on my 04, but the next time i need a new tirs I will switch the wheel..   Good luck but after 7 years, I really doubt that the Moco will do anything..  Don't hold your breath for Rossmeyer either. >:(

As Stu and others have mentioned the 04s were notorious for bad chrome.  In an area prone to salt air such as Florida it's only going to be worse.  But seven years is seven years.  Especially when measured against an original two year warranty.  Does seem to be spitting in to the wind to expect a manufacturer to address a cosmetic failure most of a decade after production.

Yeah...I certainly understand what you all are saying about the timeframe thing...7 yrs and all. Its just unbelievable that 4 months ago they where pristine. Just 4 months in Fla are they are shot, not just pitting, but flaking like mad. I know they won't help, but its sad that , considering all the issues with these wheels, they won't stand behind them. Sadly, now that I understand what living in the Sunshine state is going to do to my chrome, and the constant attention I'm going to have to pay to detailing, I may very well have to sell this bike. Theres just no way, with my medial issues, I can maintain it like it like it should be.
