The problem also is the connector itself.  They give you wires with the pins on them.  You slide these into the connector and you snap down a piece of plastic to hold them in.  Unfortunately, when snapped down, they leave enough room for the wires but not for sheathed wires.  Otherwise, some heat shrink tubing could be slid on before the pins are installed and are snapped in.

I may try this and if I can find some thin heat shrink.  Then use pliers to close the connector.  Bottom line, the connector is not as good as the deusht ones.

Here's one nobody's talked about yet.  I relocated the shock filler valve to the right side of the motorcycle.  That's where it was on my '02 Classic and seemed so natural to me.  Then in '04 for some unknown reason they moved to the left side which ends up being very inconvenient to get to since it is on the low side when the bike is parked on the jiffy stand.  Moving to the right (high) side gets it up where you can more easily get to it to check/adjust pressure, especially with the tour-pak on.  It was simply a matter of switching the lines around.

Why they made the change, I would love to know.  It is as if the guy/gal who does that at the factory was suddenly was suddenly told to report to work on the other side of the assembly line!

My guess is HD relocated the shock filler valve to eliminate the possibility of dripping shock oil onto the brake pads?

MoChrome, I think you nailed it![smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  At the very least, this is the best explanation I've heard so far.  If I'm ever asked, this is my story and I'm stickin' to it! [smiley=bigok.gif]

Anyone with the detachable tourpack worried about removal by some less than honorable party?  Have you installed the locks that HD sells that can be put on the detachable hardware?

WFP:

I had the same thought about the detachable tour pak and I did put one of those locks on.  It was a snap to install and seems to work well.  One more key to carry around!

FYI... I bought a set detachable locks a year or so ago planning to use both on a detachable tour pak rack. As I recall, the locks are side specific ( for the right side I think).  To use one on the left side might require some mods to the lock bracket.  Plus I think they are like the gas cap door in that any key will open any lock.
