oil leak between the engine case and the transmission case----has anyone seen this or had a problem like this---only 5,ooo miles on bike----

I would like any information on this problem and the cure for it

how bad of a leak? i have noticed a bit of oil between the motor and trans. but i wouldnt call it a leak it almost looks like a stain. it never seems to get any bigger so i havent worried about it.

just found an article in American Iron magazine on this oil leak problem     november issue

go to page128 and 129

seems the leak can be bad cases on engine or transmission

this bike is going back to the dealer for repairs

also sent a letter to Harley Davidson about this problem will let you know what comes of it

I've got about 4500 miles on the FLHRSEI2 and I've noticed a fair amount of oil seepage that stains the silver engine finish. It's very noticable, but not enough of a leak to get oil on the garage floor. The bottom of the engine case is almost black, but I suspect much of that is road grime. Also a bit of seepage where the engine case and tranny butt up to each other. certainly will keep and eye on it. I'm sure H-D will make any problems right for us!
