Title: Harley says it won't fit....again
Post by: rayson56 on January 23, 2020, 03:26:19 PM
Since I finally finished blacking out my engine by replacing my chrome pushrod tubes and lifter block covers while doing my cam, lifters, oil pump and camplate upgrade the last thing to stand out was my chrome transmission dipstick. As I searched around the interweb, Harley and the aftermarket came up with minimal offerings. Then I heard a rumor and decided to act on it figuring what the hell.

This is what I purchased;

As you can see everything lines up perfectly plus no tools needed to check the tranny fluid and the black blends in nicely.

Looks good 👍 if you don’t mind me asking how did you get the 117 badge for the intake? My dealer told me the part is vin locked for 19cvo and won’t sell it to me with an 18.

Thanks. The intake is from a 2019 RG.

I just had my 19 CVO RG 128 big bore kit done and I went with The Ventilator Fuel Moto Setup.. I plan on getting rid my 117 badge and the entire intake system in new condition... Just letting you know my friend...Now onto the original post.... I’m glad to see the dipstick definitely works for our bikes, your bike looks Awesome my friend...

Great work. The push rod tubes look much better in black. I knew the dipstick fitted as I bought one for my 14 SERK and transferred it to my 18 RG when I traded.

The heat shields look much better than the stock ones. Are they from a Gunship Gray?

Cool!  Wonder if they make that in Chrome?  Would match the Oil Stick on my '19 and make it easy to check the trans without a hex...

Yes, thanks to one of the members here. I envisioned the blacked out look including the heat shields from the get go. Glad you guys like it as well as I do.

Thanks!

On my 2019, Red Pepper I did not thing the factory heat shields looked right.  Took a few months but got the black chrome ones off a 2019 Mako Fade which are the same as the 18 gunship gray.  Sure looks much better.

Yes and that's the way it should have left the factory. Lookin good Dave! Now for the black push rod tubes and lifter blocks.  :)

Nice to see that you're back in the saddle.

You are correct. It should have left the factory like that. Now I’ve got to find someone in the UK with a Gunship Gray or a Mako who doesn’t want their heat shields or it’s going to be expensive!!

Nice to have her back.  The black lifter blocks and push rod tubes are a thought.

I priced it out in the USA, it was north of 1100.00 dollars.

They pop up for sale on e-bay occasionally for much less money.  Some times they have come up on this site.  I got my off facebook.  Just watch for used, much more economical.
