131 question about auto tune
« on: February 16, 2020, 02:02:29 AM »

I ordered my 131 kit today with the heavy breather extreme ac. Looks like kit will be getting CA approval soon. Have those of you that have already installed did you do the auto tune as well? When I did the stage 4 a year ago I asked my dealer if he thought I should do it then and he thought it was unnecessary. Want to only do this once (famous last words..)

Here is a dyno with the before and after Smart tune.

Auto tune seems important if you're going to travel through different climates.

The Harley download for the 131 is pretty good, doesn’t need a lot of tweaking.

this is a very compelling reason to do the auto tune for sure..

I ran the auto tuner on a couple of M8 bikes with the HD stage 2 TQ cam. I really liked the results and it seemed to perform better the more I rode them. I have the 131 kit ordered and wanted to use the auto tune with the S&S compliant exhaust. The dealer called HDs tech line and they said the headpipe that comes with the kit has a high flow cat and is tuned for optimum performance using on the HD SEPST and stage 4 download, also the header that comes with the kit does not have 18mm O2 bungs. I’m going to stay with the supplied header and downloaded tune for a while and then decide if I want to change things up. I know after 2 years I will change the header, cam and tuner.
