Shop I’m getting cam from suggested to change the injectors to the 5.5’s and also to the better intake manifold from the stock one. And also to the 1275N clutch springs. My question is  all this necessary for just a cam change????

No it is not for just a cam, air filter kit, and exhaust. A 5.5 injector would be way too much fuel and will cause you driveability problems at low speeds.

The stock CVO air filter on the Twin Cam isn't bad at all however the CVO ventilator does not flow worth a crap......I see this as I dial in the MAP sensor. If you want a good flowing filter use the new Harley Ventilator Extreme or the Heavy Breather Extreme.....they flow much better than the SE stage one kits or the CVO ventilator.

As usual, very good information Doc.  M8 heavy breather is not at all as good as twin cam heavy breather.  Was curious about the Extreme versions, had heard they were good, your post confirms it.

For just a cam change I would have thought the stock setup would flow enough?? I only had to change mine because I went 128 and it was showing it would do better with more air... Guess I was wrong...

A very well known engine builder suggested I need to go to bigger injectors from stock injector, better intake manifold & clutch springs. I'm going to be using Jim's Vtwin Maxcell 821H cam in my 2018 CVO Limited. The builder said the stock injectors will be at around 90-95% cycle duty is what he's seen in past and looses control of them...

As usual, very good information Doc.  M8 heavy breather is not at all as good as twin cam heavy breather.  Was curious about the Extreme versions, had heard they were good, your post confirms it.

The heavy Breather is basically the same, but the M8 doesn't react to increasing the intake length like the Twin Cam did. When comparing air cleaners, I always speak about the power loss not gain. I run the baseline dyno pulls with an open TB, looking at the butterfly. 99% of the time this will be the best number you will ever see. As you bolt on different air cleaners, you see the loss in power from the air flow restriction. In all of my testing with Twin cams, the SE Heavy breather is the only AC that actually showed a TQ gain through the mid range with just the addition of the elbow. If you ran the big filter that came with it, you maintained the gain, or "zero Loss". The Twin cam likes the additional intake length. The M8 on the other hand could care less. The elbow alone shows no gain, and the addition of the filter usually dropped it back 1-2 HP. It's the same AC but the 4 valve motor just doesn't respond to it like the Twin cam did. Right now, the best ACs for M8 are the ones that flow air through the face. This allows the air to flow straight in like an open TB. Complete opposite of the stock M8 CVO ac that forces the air to make a very sharp 90 deg turn. As usual, Doc knows what's up. ;D

Did I mention we have a new long primary M8 Sportpipe coming out? It's a secret, don't say anything.
