I just noticed the Vance & Hines ovals the left side is sticking out about a inch further than the right. Does anyone else have this problem? I tried to push it forward after loosening the bolt and it seemed to move but not that much. ?
-
CVO, were they like this since the install or did this just happen...
If it's from the install, here's a tip from when I did mine - Have somone hold the left head pipe when tyring to get the left muffler seated. If it's fully seated, slide the right muffler back to line up with the left.

I'll give it a try, thanks. [smiley=cool2.gif]

I dont know if its from the install, I just bought the bike. Probably though.
-
I took a look at mine and tried to get the same angle, it looks like the left muffler needs to slide forward. Try a little penetrating oil before you attempt it and take the left bracket off so you can twist and push at the same time.

I had the same problem, check to make sure its not hitting the heat shield.

Slide the right pipe back to meet the left. The right side will slide up to far, compared to the left.....

I did and my dyno is posted...somewhere, I will try to dig it up. I did not show triple digits. I have the PC, SE intake and the ovals with stock headers.

Looks fine from this angle

Now the left one is short!!
Ive got the trud duals header pipes and the ovals,,, I'm starting my quest for a tuner in TX. I;ve found Cliff Piper in the Dallas area - he uses PC. Was trying to find A SERT tuner within several hundred miles. Would even go out of state if it was worth the trip.

WFP,
Nice chart! If it had been 10 degrees cooler, migth have got that extra 2 lbs of tq... [smiley=laugh.gif]

thanks for the graph.

My only concern is if the ovals i have on are the right choice?I have been looking for someone who has done a racetuner to see what numbers they got? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

My ovals are dead even, looking from the top, the Vance & Hines etching is about 1" away from the bag.
I do have the true dual head pipes, and I did the install myself, maybe that is the difference.

Porthole,
I think the right side one is in too far. How do you like the true duals? Are they the Vance & Hines? What other mods do you have? PC? Race tuner? I could sure use your help. I dont want to do the buy this try, dont like it buy something else thing, I want to get it right the first time. Any and all advice is appreciated. [smiley=cool2.gif]

The head pipes are V&H, went on failry easy, but I did place one cover clamp in the wrong spot and ended up scratching the triangular side cover. When I chose my pipes I did not do it for the

I will be using a set of the V&H dresser dauls with the ovals that I already have on the bike with my SERT. Also I don't give a flying fuk about Rhineharts and couple more hp, don't need the extra noise on long ride's.
Wes at Cycle Rama will do the tuning with the SERT, no better tuner around.

I like the sound of the ovals also.I would love to see your dyno when you get it dialed in. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I got about 10000 miles on my V&H ovals. Right side kept sliding back on mine. It was coming loose and I would keep tightening it. Approx every couple thousand miles.
Race Tuner, SE air cleaner, and I got a sheet posted somewhere on this site that says 100 hp 103 torque. Seemed kind of high to me.
Just got rid of the pipes and put a V&H Pro Pipe on. What a difference. Not sure of the increase in HP or Torq but is sure does seem like it has increased a lot. I really like the sound and performance of the new pipe. Pro pipe doesn't look as good from behind "like I care about that"
Next is the 211 cams [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]
