I have been advised by a muffler reconditioner that a 14" 1.6 diamond tipped core drill, ,makes an almost perfect tunnel from the inlet straight into the start of the baffle, the Cat is approx. 3 in thick and obviously restrictive, with the cats out of the way, After listening to the before and after it is obvious the modified pipes sound much deeper and you can feel a considerable increase in the exhaust being emitted at idle.

How much does that bit cost?  Do you know someone that can perform this service for a fee?

Thanks
