Title: Oil cooled heads?

I've tried to search on here and other places and can't find any concrete information.

The salesman told me the 2020 CVO Road Glide has a bigger oil cooler than what came with touring models in the past. Additionally, the heads are oil cooled.

This wasn't a make or break decision when buying the bike, but is this true?

Any information on this would be great. Thanks!

My understanding is the oil cooled M8 heads from 2017 until 2020 are the same, they all have same P/N with only difference being finish, black granite for CVO.  Oil cooler is slightly different for the 19 and 20 due to the Fang, not sure its bigger though.

Scott, I'm pretty sure that salesman was comparing to the old Twin Cam models, not to earlier M8 bikes.  The 2020 has oil cooled heads, and the oil cooler is significantly larger than what came on the old Twin Cam touring bikes.

I asked this question a few other places and everyone is knocking the salesman who told me this. I should have clarified that he meant bigger than previous Twin Cams, not that my personal bike or that model had a much bigger oil cooler than other M8's.

I appreciate the info, nice to know their is another level of cooling with these M8 heads.

Sales bullchit. Oil cooled has been bs since twin cam days. Oil cooler or not. Primary cooling is air. Then squirt oil on some parts and through a small rad and it’s cooled. Bs

My fan assisted oil cooler off my 18 RGS fit perfect on my 2020 RG cvo.  Cooler looked identical to the cooler on my 18.

………..Again...….He meant the oil cooler was bigger than previous Twin Cams.....Not that the bike I was looking at was a magical unicorn with the greatest oil cooler in all the land. I realize air is the primary cooling method and anything beyond that is basically a band aid.
