Over the past week my 07 FXDSE with 20K miles is running like its not getting a consitant flow of fuel. Almost as if the reserve was kicking in on a carborated model.  Thought I may have had a bad tank of Fuel.  This has been three tanks now and still the same.  any ideas???

How about:

same gas each time?
the fuel Filter recall issue?
Plugs fouled?
Bad spark from -fill in the blanks- wires-all ignition eletrical components

There was a recall for a fuel filter for the 2008 touring models not sure about the 07. Maybe nothing to it in your case-sounds more like ignition to me

Thank you,  It's in the shop now having the Recall, or should I say the "enhancements" done, along with the 20 k service. they are going to check it out.

The Dealer thought the 20k service would solve the problem? pick up the bike and drove her home and all seemed to be fine.   Rode to work the next day (64 miles oneway) and about halfway there it started up again?

Still sounds like ignition to me-you did say that you did check the plugs, wires and coils? How did you do that? What about the little screen filter in the fuel tank?

I did check the wires and plugs... Don't have the ability (Tools/Toys) to check the coil.

Another scenario... early this year (Feb 08) I got Screamin' Eagle II Slip ons from a riding buddie of mine that changed his pipes on his bike.  Put them on and the bike ran fine, just some deceleration popping.  I have put on over 12k with these pipes on until I started to have this bigger issue.  Check all the things you suggested and all OK.  So I decided to put the stock pipes back on. Started out about the same as with the SE-II slip-ons (Popping, Choking etc) after about 40 miles it all went away? and now it's running smooth.  if the pipes were causing the problem why did it take 12k mile to show up??

You could have had an exhaust leak sucking in cold air on deceleration-which will cause popping.  A bad enough leak will effect the idle and low rpm performance.  The change of pipes back to the stock pipes could have eliminated the leak... just a possibility...

When I had one of the original Rinehart Tru Duals several years ago, I had the "tab" break off the rear header pipe.  It created enough of a leak that the bike barely ran at low RPM and would die at idle.  That and a different sound to the exhaust led me to finding the broken off tab...

Got tired of the run around from the dealer with the problem with the bike.  They told me they had to clear a code in the speedo that they thought would solve the problem.  I asked them a few times what the code was, but they kept on avoiding me.   Did some searching on here and was able to get  the 2007 DTC's The code that keeps appearing P0154 "Rear 02 Sensor Open/Not responding" I wonder if they damaged it during the one the repair's since they had to remove the pipes.  Just a thought ?

It is possible, they also may have damaged the wiring or the control circuit. It is definitely worth going over with the service manager and asking what can be done before you go elsewhere. An open in the O2 circuit affects the AFR, which can lead to other problems...

most of the touring bikes get the high pressure hose inside the tank replaced at 25000 mile service. these are prone to pinholes. hd dude has is in the know on this
