Title: Sirius cuts to WB on 14 CVO Limited
Post by: Blueprint on January 11, 2014, 04:02:24 PM
Even after getting the 6.5 radio flash update my radio constantly switches from Sirius to the weather band for no apparent reason.  Anyone else having this issue, my local HD service mgr said this was a first....he was well aware of the front speaker not working unless the fader is adjusted.....
(Flash update did not fix front speaker issue either)

I have seen posts from other owners that have the same problem. It does not seam to be a wide spread issue. Turning off the WB will solve the issue.

Turning off the WB may "fix" an individual's immediate problem, but that it hardly a real fix, just as going into the fader control each time to "fix" the front speakers is not a real fix.  Typical Harley, eight months after they started building something they still have no answer for the various built-in defects.  For those who have found a work around, like going into the fader control or turning off the WB, please do your brethren a favor and still pursue these defects through the MoCo (not just the dealer, contact the MoCo directly).  Harley is fairly famous for not addressing known issues until the official complaint volume reaches critical mass.  Ask the beta testers who bought 2007/2008 CVO 110's.

Jerry is right, took me several years to Beta test my 07 and all the $$ to correct the Moco's issues I am not about to turn it back over to them at some low trade in figure just to get another to start the process over again. I prefer to ride at this point and enjoy as much as I can as that is what I bought it for in the first place. The nice thing for me is I hardly ever see another 07 Blue anymore. And I like having throttle cables.

Going out of my comfort zone here, but isn't there an "Alert" function on the wb that can be toggled on or off?  If this were on, isn't it supposed to switch to WB if there is an alert recieved?  I thought my 2011 had this option, but I haven't messed with a newer version, nor mine, for that matter.

Just one thing to check and rule out, really.  :nixweiss:

If that's the real cause, then I'd suggest that setting should be OFF by default in the software from Harley and leave it up to those who want that feature to turn it on.  Much smarter approach than to do it the other way and make people think there is something else wrong with their new infotainment system.

I agree, totally.  For one, it is a mystery problem.  The first thing is you wonder what the heck is happening.  Sounds like the radio is just cutting out  >:(

Once one figures it is the WB kicking in then you have to figure out how to turn it off.  Gook luck finding it in the manual...

I played with the radio to figure it out again so I could post instructions here.

Home Screen
Select Tuner / WB   presents with menu of WB stations.

Use the Joystick on RT to select the menu bar at the top to turn off.

Not very intuitive.  Thought it would be some sort of setting in "Setup", but hides itself there right in the WB screen at the top.   :(

Bro's Limited had the same issue.  Drove him nuts - thought it was his MP3 player....

Regards,

M
