That is what I was told by Garmin before ordering it from another place, and that is my plan for hooking up the 2820 I just got.  I think you can also use the headphone jack...I'll find out Friday when the kit gets here...I had a hard time finding the kit in stock.

Thanks, I will look forward to our update.

The lead is female so if connecting to the AUX input, it will require a cable with male connectors on each end or an adapter.  I just wanted to be sure that if I did connect to my AUX, I wouldn't "muck" things up.

I knew I had seen something on this but it was on another site.  Hope the link works.  Very detailed info and it will require some additional electonic adapters.  This also refers to 2006 radios.  Hope this will help with your install.

Thanks...good information.  I'm going to be down to the wire (no pun intended) in getting this done prior to leaving Saturday, so may have to use the cig lighter speaker, being careful not to turn the forks too far to the left and hitting the connection.  The link is a very good article on how to do it right.

Not sure if this all applies to your newer 2820 but you might send a reply and ask.  Since I have the 2610 I ordered the other parts last night.  Have a safe ride and a great 4th of July.
