With the new 2012 SERG in Maple Metallic coming standard with a distressed brown leather seat, I thought it would be interesting to see all the custom seats members have put on their CVO's over the years.
Some have done superb jobs in customizing with complete colour changes to match their rides, and others have chosen to add colour coordinated stitching and piping.
So, please stand up and show us your seats!

Here ya go...seat and saddlebags.

Very cool looking seat.
I can imagine anything other than black will make the seat much cooler to the touch.
Nice job SCRM-R

Thanks. Amazing detail in AB's work.

Not up to the Alligator Bob standards. But here's my pair:
-
Little closer view of each. All tan on the SEEG:
-
And three different reds on the "triple red" Road Glide. Recovered the tour pak side panels to go along with the seat.
-
Very nice looking TwoLane.
I love the way you've picked up the gold/tan pinstripe on the '05 with that great looking seat, looks like it could be ostrich skin???
And what can I say about the triple+ red ride??? It is amazing! BTW, nice touch on replacing the cover up under the TP!
Two posts so far of 3 wonderful looking custom seats.
Keep 'em coming... I know there are many more out there.
-
Wow SCRM-R, that seat saddlebag lid setup is the sickest thing I've seen! Way sick. Twolanerider, love the ostrich and matching Corbin backrests. Looks like you could go all day on a seat/backrest combo like that.

The case of the missing "L" no doubt.

Hey JC,
I just knew those two beautiful seats would show up here. Quite the nice matching set, if I do say so myself.
-
Looks like you could go all day on a seat/backrest combo like that.
They have been all day saddles Hank. The Road Glide's seat is a heated seat. Corbin adds the slightest bit of extra padding with the heating element installed. But they've both done 900-1000 days without any ill effect.
The Electra Glide also has a black saddle from Corbin that came before the ostrich seat. It's just black with red welt and some stitching so not really "custom" in any great sense. It is also a good comfortable saddle. The red one is best though. If had to go a long long day and pick a seat that would be the one.
-
Corbin Dual tourer. Red flame stitch. Ostrich sides. Driver & passenger backrests. Custom artwork on back of driver backrest. Boss saddle bags with custom tops. Custom roll bag.

Never miss a chance to show off the Switchblade. As I've said before, I don't really like the way the bike looks with this seat setup but for long rides or two up, it is much, much better than the stock seat altho the stock seat looks better. Life is a series of compromises.

I love that seat on that bike Mark. Always have. It may look a bit "wide" for the rest of the bike, but not much. The colors work so well and the lines are good. It's a great looking combination.

With the bags, it all works in harmony. Probably the best looking of that model I've ever seen.

Thanks Twolane! I think the two of us have similar preferences. I'm always amazed at what you're putting together as well. Been watching your latest project. Can't wait to see that all together. One of these days I'm gonna ride on down for a day or two.

Nonsense! Your bike looks great! The tan seat really works well with the red, especially when there is gold/tan accents in the paint job. I also really like the Screamin' Eagle badge on the back of the rider backrest.
You and TwoLane would look great riding down the road together with your red & tan setups.

Well this Krypto is not mine but I think it fits the post. Thought I would join in.

They are all great looking seats, so please keep 'em coming!

I have on that is in progress. It will not be finished for another week or so. I will put up a picture when I get it done. That is if it turns out like I want it to. LOL.

Leather work done by Benny Ohrman in North Platte Ne
Stopped overnite in North Platte on the way home from our western trip last month just to meet Benny. Worth the stop. Considering having him make a jacket for me. $3K is a ton of money for a jacket but he is quite an artisan with leather and a very cool guy! Learned about him because of your posts on your seat and bags.

That's a great looking seat and bag setup you have on your '08 Anniversary Road King.
Any chance of you posting a side shot of the whole bike?
That way we get to see what the seat & bags look like against the Black & Copper paint.
Lots of amazing work there, for sure.

You've done a super customizing job on a great looking ride!
Congrats!

Those handlebars may be some of Harley's Polished Stainless Steel....they'll sometimes give a slight gold hue. Some people complain about that and rather have chrome for the brighter reflection. I have 'em on my softtail and never bothered that they weren't chrome. just sayin'. spyder

Nope. No bling bling on this scoot. All CVO OEM chrome only mods are the seat(s), saddlebags and my silverdollar triple post lock ring, and a sq motor upgrade to 120 cu in

Just thought it up, was tired of the cheap plastic insert HD installed so I bought a silver dollar, took it to a machine shop, had them drill it out same I'D, then used silicone to glue it in place. The US mint did not produce a 2008 silver eagle which was what I really wanted but so be it.

Well here is the one that I had Chuck And Chuy of C&C Seats do for my 2009 SERG. It's been a real comment starter!

Here is one more of the Tour Pack Backrest with pack sitting in solo position. Thanks for all the comments and questions. To answer the question on cost; it was $2500 for the whole deal of Seat, pillion, Seat backrest passenger backrest and Tourpack rest. And yes it is all secured on the bike when riding solo with Brukus seat secure and when riding 2up I have a gordon lock system. Not wanting to let this gator go too easy if not at all if you know what I mean.

That's really not a bad price at all for work like that. The 64K question is: Is the seat comfortable on long rides?
-
That's what I'd call the lap of luxury.. ;)..at a great price.. :2vrolijk_21:...a lot of seat area with all you had done. spyder

The long ride was very comfortable. I rode from Ft. Worth, Tx. to Natchitoches, LA. to De Ridder, LA. to Jasper, TX. to Galveston Beach TX, to Ft. Worth, TX 1100 miles in all and not monkey butt or sore spots. Love the ride!

Gorgeous. Share the details please? What are the materials?
A local guy recovered my stock seat and added gel pads front and rear, and as you can see, he did front and rear backrests, speaker pods, pad below the rear backrest and seat strap. He also recently made matching bags for my 3 bag windshield bag (he removed the old bags and put the new bags on the same base). He did a great job on all of it. The material is actually some sort of vinyl or something of the sort. It's very heavy duty and simulates alligator skin to the point that I've had a few ladies afraid to actually touch my seat. The guy who did the seat recommended that I use this material as it was extremely durable and makes for a much more comfortable seat than using real alligator, and of course, less costly.
I just trailered down to St Augustine, FL last week and rode the bike down to Key West. On the return ride, I went straight through from Key West to St Augustine with 2 "quick as I could fill the tank and get back on the bike" stops in TOTAL comfort. He made this into the most comfortable seat I've ever been on.
Total price of $675 and I didn't think that was too bad at all for a good job.

You'll know the term "monkey butt" very well if you're riding in triple digits on vinyl covered seat. Leather breaths, vinyl doesn't. :nixweiss: Being from the north, that might not affect you to much but would never work here in the west. Vinyl covered seats are those that we're all trying to get away from.

I have done several 700 plus mile days on it. I have 20K plus miles on it in one year. It is very firm, if you like a firm seat you will like it. The first 1000 miles I hated it, hard as a rock. However after that it was broke in and I like it. More comfortable than the Danny Gray Big seat I had on the 09 Road Glide, not quite as comfortable as the mustang on the fatboy, but it looks way better.
Going to try to have the stock seat on my CVO king customized by a guy who will add a rider back rest to it. If I do not like it, I will get another corbin like this one for my King.

Italian leather with Japanese stingray inlay. The stingray skin sparkles as the sun reflects off all the calcium beads found naturally in stingray leather for a truly awesome look.
That stingray is kind of 'grippy', isn't it? Bet you don't squirm around too much on that seat. Is it hard on your jeans?

I don't squirm on my seat, regardless, the stingray is not grippy as a seat cover. The tiny lumps are calcium deposits and the seat is actually smooth as glass (but not slippery either) against jeans. Interestingly, the ancient Samurai used stingray skins as a kind of armour.

It's been a couple of years since we've seen any new custom seats posted, and I thought with the new stock 2018 CVORG seat (below) there could possibly be more new custom seats out there.
Please feel free to continue sharing pics your custom seats. :2vrolijk_21:

Heres what I just had made for my 2018 cvo rg , Black earth / vivid black--------Mustang made it for me-----I just cant ride the stock seats ---------however I thought the one from the gunship grey looked nice so i had them copy it as close as i could.
see pics below-------

another

I also took all the hardware apart from the rider backrest and had it painted black.
Mustang only offers it in chrome .
-
Very nicely done. And I noticed Mustang used their customary braiding on the seam that always looks impressive.
Actually I was surprised that H-D only put that seat on the Gunship Gray and not the other two CVO RG's??? :nixweiss:
I could understand it if it was an anniversary bike, but it is not. Go figure.
You've got the best of both worlds now! :2vrolijk_21:
Thanks for sharing.

When the CVO Road Glides and Street Glides came out I thought it very odd that all of them didn't have that seat( the one on the gunship grey) on them. It is a good looking seat for sure and would have really made a difference in appearance on all the other bikes ----------the black ones just seem kinda plain after seeing that one. Anyway , that is what inspired me for the Mustang. I have been riding them for years anyway ------The stock CVO seats just kill my back after not very many miles----------I just box them up and give them to the next owner when I trade or sell. This particular seat really does make a difference for me on this bike . More so than any other I have had-----can't explain it, but its different, better!

Stock seat recovered by MeanCity Cycles. Big Red is my bike's nick-name, so I have a few accessories with it; derby/timing cover, head badges, etc.

Hey Big Red,
That's an awesome looking seat, and looks fantastic on your ride. :2vrolijk_21:
I've noticed that the seats lately either factory or aftermarket that have the diamond pattern all appear to have the perforation as well, even though the holes are obviously not punched all the way through. I'm not sure if this is by design to make them different from days of old (as with the 2012 CVO RG seat below) or if there is another reason. :nixweiss: Possibly some are air conditioned seats as well as heated???
Both with and without the perforation looks amazing to me!

Not a "custom" seat, but in sticking with the theme, here are pics of the 2018 gunship gray seat on my 2014 RK. I loved the seat when I saw the pics of the 2018s being released, so I was able to purchase and install and it matches really well!

One more...

Well it is custom on your bike, and looks awesome!
Matches perfectly. Nice touch! :2vrolijk_21:

My 09 redone locally.

Wow! Looks comfy Hard Tail.
It sure looks like the "Bugatti theme" seat design is catching on.
-
Thanks. Reminds me of the old school bucket race seat. Fits the rest of the bike.
-
Did change to a Le Pera Silhouette (Alcantara, Diamond Stich and with Biker Gel)
For me it is very pleasent to ride with, also for longer trips... its a bit lower and a bit more back...

Another great looking seat, this time from GK. The diamond theme sure is popular and your choice of covering not only looks cool, I imagine it would be a lot cooler on a hot day other than leather or vinyl???
I'm quite interested in the diamond theme and what others have done with it, as my upholsterer (who is currently recovering my seat) suggested I go with what he referred to as the "Bugatti" design. His reasoning is that we ride the most expensive bikes in the Harley lineup, so why not have a seat design from one of the most expensive cars? I had to agree.

Yes, the seat is a bit cooler and pleasant on hot days. In addition, it is more slip-resistant than leather due to the Alcantara. With my Kevlar jeans I slipped constantly back and forth with the leather seat. ;)

Now I have a Paul Simon song rolling around in my head. ;D
I'm sure you enjoy that great looking seat and get lots of complements on it.

X2! What's the time that bike pulls?

My best last year, hoping go 9.99 this year

That explains the deep cut back support in your custom seat.
No moss growing on you! :nervous:
-
This was made for the wife's sportster.
-
I finally have my new custom seat. Still heated of course, but also with a gel pad inserted on both rider and passenger seats.
-
Custom reworked stock street glide seat. Added 1 1/2" of high density foam, plus made wider by 3/4" per side.
I'm 6'2" with 34" inseam. I prefer a higher seat as it gives a straighter leg angle to the floor boards. No longer use a backrest as well now.

Posted before but apparently my image hosting site died. A little better profile shot of it on the bike. Recovered from Mean City Cycles. Anyone on the fence about a custom seat, I'll say this. 75% of the comments/questions I get are about the seat. DO IT!! :)
