Unbelievable!!!! :shocked2: I should never complain about riding in the cold again :D :D

How does the bike handle in the snow?

BTW - I added the image tag to the post I quoted of yours so the pics would show up here.

Welcome to the board.

I've often wondered if they made tires like that and if it's possible to ride a bike in the snow and on the ice.......on the streets.  I guess, in your case, it's being done.  Tell us about it......what's it like riding on those tires?

Bike handles fine.

Dry roads, it is a bit wobly at speeds over 90 km/h due to the spikes. Icy roads with around 2mm solid ice, bike moves like a train in similar speeds. On snowy roads, rear tyre holds fine, front tyre is not quite to my liking, it has a slight tendency to sideslip on slow speed.   Does not matter though.

Best way to drive the bike is to keep it rather upright, have your weight at front and let the rear slip  the same way as with the dirt track bikes. Plenty of fun... and not any colder than snowscooters.

I got the bike a few weeks ago, have cumulated now on it 800 km in snow & ice, and it is my intension to drive best part of january... after my wife returns to work... and before I do.

Bike has raised suspension and seat,  special tyres, engine and battery pre-heating, battery tricle charging, light shutoff, heated grips, custom made seat and drag type hadlebars etc... but nothing major.

It is the most fun I have had on two wheels for long time... and I will keep you updated as the miles accumulate.

strongly recommended...

Now that looks like a fun bike to ride.  I think I'm spoiled by having a fairing though.  I don't know if I could go back to that type of riding now.  Although I think I could probably hang on a dirt bike for a while in warmer weather.

w4p2 - thanks for sharing your new ride. Looks like fun but it would make me nervous! I remember seeing motorcycle races on ice on Wide World of Sports in the 1960's. They had big spikes on the tires and the races seemed to always be in Russia.

Be careful!

Looks like it might be lake George, in Goergetown, just before Loveland Pass. They do a lot a 4X4 ice racing there too. Funny video!  ;D

Did a 700 km round tour is south Finland using mainly small coutry/logging routes. Temperature at the start (clean bike) was -17C, but decreased to 0C during the two day trip (muddy bike).

This type of riding is absolutelly fantastic and I strongly recommend.

3000+ km in 30 days on dirt tracks and logging roads. Met two bikers and three timber wolves during the one moth ride. HD performed perfectly... but unfortunatelly it is time to return  to sea.

You very much pinpointed the only major problem.

In my tank pack I carry Visor for Nolan Classic plus helmet, ok when temperature +- few degrees from 0C.

I also tried Nolan Classic N-Com helmet, waste of time and money.

I tried various glasses, including Enduro ones by Scott,  classic angled glass glasis by various makers, yellow sun glases etc... with bad results.

So far the best have been Alpina Ceramic fogtop skiing wrap aroung type sunglases, clear shooting glases and "swimming glass" type protective mirrowed eaywere from unknown manufacturer.

I carry with me four set of Glases, one visor, clening fluig and rags as I go. Irrigardless, while in the deep forest, the best is to trusts on one's eaylids... no time for fog spots.

w4p2, you da man!

I noticed you don't have a wind deflector, even more impressive!

I was wondering, what do you use for eye protection and how do you keep them from fogging up? I have problems with my full face shield & helmet at 32 to 36 degree weather even with front & top vents open, only minimize the problem a bit with a buff to cover my mouth and not breath out thru my nose. Thought a wind/bug deflector might help but looking for something for the face shield, this is all new to me.

Thanks for sharing!

Some of the snowmobil rs use heated faceshields when it's really cold.
