'06 SE..Rineharts, Race Tuner...What else?
« on: December 01, 2006, 06:55:39 PM »

I know this could be very subjective regarding personal taste but ordered a set of True Dual Rineharts, K&N and having the SERT and pipes installed next Saturday.

What am I missing...or what else do I really need beside these three items?

Just want to ensure bases are covered...Cheers!...CW

Yep, got it from Waugh's. Third H-D in a row, same dealer...Heritage, Ultra and now the SE. Always been treated fair. I guess that is why I keep going back. :)

Bought the pipes from the 'net and RT from Waughs. Waugh's Currently having 20% off one individual item and they alwys give me 10% of labor charges. There not losing any money (ha).

Just doing a K&N filter itself or a complete Air Kit??  That might be the only other thing, I know Waugh can hook ya up with a regular SE Kit, but you might wanna look at the Roll Your Own AC thread and get the part numbers, works out a little cheaper than the SE Kit and you'll get the Chrome back plate.....Waugh should have those parts layin around also......also with the K&N Filter HD-0800 for the SE Air Kit you'll likely need Gasket Kit P/N 29591-99 because the gasket that comes with the K&N is a bit thin for your Air Cleaner Cover.

Just the filter. Asked dealer if I needed the air kit and they (the person I spoke with) did not believe it was needed. I really don't know other than what I've read on the K&N site and various topics in this forum. I like the look of the stock breather cover and don't want to change that if at all possible. Not sure if the K&N kit requires that change.

I hear you!  I'm often asked why my wife and I never had children after 25 years of marriage...My response has always been "I like buying my own toys, neices and nephews can fight over it when I'm dead".

H-D's have been one of the most expensive toys I've been lucky enough to have. Not for service, but for all the do-dads added and removed and and added and removed...

I've come to the conclusion that it never stops (ha)!

Sounds like a good start.  You'll want to get it on a dyno at some point and make sure the one you choose is knowledgable in the SERT.  Many here have had poor performance gains unless the operator is top notch.  There are threads here on what to expect.
