You have to have the feeling they're expecting folks to hang some lights on it, remove the wheelie bar and change the slick to a street tire.  Otherwise why have the big fuel cell.  Straight drag bike wouldn't need it or want it.

Maybe that was the intent......to get it by the EPA.  Have it both ways.......that'd be a fun bike to have.  But why is that wheelie bar not orange powder coat?  Or even black........... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I'm thinking the wheelie bar didn't get a lot of detailed cosmetics because a) hey, it's a wheelie bar,it's suppose to lead a rough life and b) they know it's afterbirth and that 9.5 out of ten buyers won't be leaving it on the bike.

Why whatdda mean?  That's where all the sponsor's decals go. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  How the hell ya gonna get serious bout this chit if ya don't have a place for the sponsors to advertise? [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  That's the reason it's a flat sided wheelie bar.

So on one side there's a sticker for Victoria's Secret and the on the other there's a sticker for Viagra?

(now that would be product synergy in action!)

Any idea about the horsepower figures?  I see they quoted 97 ft lbs of torque.  Using a straight correlation to the 79 ft lbs / 120 hp out of the Street Rod, well..... that equates to about 147 hp....wooooo whoooo.  Sign me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's the scoop from "Eagle Eye" aka "Deep Beak" on this model:

*originally only 100 were to be produced but the order's were rolling in from dealer's at the show in Denver........sooooooo they will be upping the production number. (some dealer's were ordering 2 on the spot, one for display and one for sale).

*msrp is approx. $34k.......dealer cost is approx. $25k

He was dead on last weekend with his report prior to the show opening so I tend to believe this info is also correct.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'll see if I can find the answer for you. As for insurance, its the vin # that will tell what it is. So if its identified as off road or racing only by the vin and the ins. agent finds that, they may not insure it... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

DC - you better be ready to go racin' cause it don't come with a title!  No DOT stamp of approval here.  Just an MSO.  If your not the racin' kind - I'm sure it would look great in your livin' room.

Chop called Rockville today and there was going to be one on order. NO PRICE as of yet. Yes MSO only no title no street racing. I have my name on the top of the list so it will look good sitting in the shop. Got a very nice enclosed trailer already setup less generator.

I bet I can find a driver over in the elkridge area.

No title

No DOT stamp of approval

No insurance

Just put dealer tag on it
These things will be on the streets.
It's the American way, someone will figure it out.

Reminds me of a friend (Otis knows him) that bought a 85 Ford diesel in 84.
Just sold it a few months ago. 350,000 miles on it and 20 years old.
The guy that bought it was the first one to sign the title. So technically, the first owner.

There are ways around this stuff.

Just read something interesting for those spending the $30k+ that these things will likely end up costing.  After having seen have to say it doesn't really surprise me.  Just hadn't thought of it before.

Since these are a race ready, drag strip ready, non street bike right "out of the box" the warranty is offered accordingly.  In other words, once prep is done after uncrating there is no warranty available.

Oy Vey !!  [smiley=nervous.gif]

No, it didn't surprise me at all; once I read it.  Just hadn't even given it a thought beforehand.  It amused me though.

It is a machine sold specifically for hazardous duty.  So a factory warranty that applies "under normal use" (as they all do) simply wouldn't apply.

I'm guessing what they mean is that once the dealer removes it from the crate and performs the set-up (verifies all the parts are somewhat attached and functional, then lets everyone in the shop try a few burn outs), as soon as you take possession the warranty expires.

I missed the burn outs but sat on the bike in the showroom floor. That was enough for me! Local dealer has one coming with my name on it. Called AHDRA to verify the new pro classification for the bike and found out that HD gave them one for testing. Tech state that out of the box they got 9.18 to 9.4 runs. WAY COOL!

Priority will be given to those dealers who advance ordered at the dealer meeting in Denver last month.  The remainder of production, if any, will be allocated on the regular dealer points system.  Don't expect the smaller dealerships to receive any units that were not pre-ordered.

The local dealer here has 3 on order. I know at least one is in. It dynoed at 147 out of the box. Then they took it to the track and ran 9.22 with no tuning. They run a drag race program there and are going to run these bikes and as far as I know none are for sale. The one I had on order is in and since I have since purchased a SE VROD he told me it is now not for sale.
