I saw prices around .45 a round (for 2000 rounds), but now that I look again, most places are backordered until Jan.  :nixweiss:

Wow, the round has gone up.  Glad I bought bulk when I bought ammo two years ago.  I still have 1500 rounds.  It cost me 26.5 cents a round when I bought.

Interested in the Glock 36 for conceal carry. Single stack .45cal. 6+1. I love my G22 .40, but pretty bulky in the summer. During the summer I find myself carrying my Kel-Tec .380 in the front pocket a lot, but often worry if that's enough outside a very close up encounter? Any thoughts on this??

KennyC, I also carry a Kel-Tec .380 in the summer, usually in an ankle holster.  If you're interested in a small 45 look into the Springfield Armory XDS 45.  I've read good reviews.

With the right ammo, a .380 can be quite effective.  I've got a Sig P238 and carry Hornady Critical Defense in it.  Decent penetration and consistant mushrooming, from the reviews I read.  I wouldn't want to get hit with a round anywhere on the torso or head.  Sig has the P938 (?)...same basic gun but in 9mm.  Just a little thicker, but not much.  I've put 500+ rounds through the P238 without a single problem, and have even mixed ammo just to see if it would jam.

No, it's not a .45...but you can't carry a .45 in the front pocket of your jeans either...I use a nice little rough side out front (right) pocket holster.

Thanks for the feed back. I was pretty much sold on the idea of the G36 so thanks VaEagle and the others for your thoughts! I have a Glock .40 and a 9mm both full size. Love em! Shoot great and easy to clean! But not real crazy about the feel of the compact models. The G36 will be my next carry gun!

With the right ammo, a .380 can be quite effective.  I've got a Sig P238 and carry Hornady Critical Defense in it.  Decent penetration and consistant mushrooming, from the reviews I read.

When my wife wanted an LCP because all her girl friends had one, or a body guard 380 I was against them because they are not fun to shoot, and a few other reasons.  I had her put 50 rounds down range with the LCP at 25 she wanted no more, and said it hurt to shoot.  Then I borrowed a friends Sig P238, she put 50 down range with it, and was ready to shoot it more.

She then decided she wanted the Sig, which she got.

My reasoning is, a carry gun is no good if you are not comfortable and accurate with it.  I feel you need to shoot what you carry a couple times a month or more.

That is the same round she uses for carry.  A very good round for a 380

I carry a Glock 36 or a Kimber ultra covert II. That Glock is excellent weapon very slim and accurate. Easier to clean than the 1911.

Thanks darth d, for sure I do like how easy the Glocks are to clean! I do have a custom 1911 a local gunsmith built. I love it but not one I want to carry to much. Don't want to scratch it up any!  ;D

Very nice gun, I always liked Wessons CCO.

1911's can be a very expensive hobby too.
