Every high end manufacturer will have some minor issues from time to time, but it's how they stand by you that matters. Yes, Ron, Jeff, Greg, Mark, and a couple of others left WC, don't assume that WC went down the tubes when these cats left. Ron has since left, and Jeff is the main brain, but it's not like they left Bill in a lurch by a long shot.

If I was to rank them, I'd still give Bill the nod, then NK, then LB.  Baer makes a nice pistol but his CS is no where near the other two. I saw a 2 month old USA Custom at an ADPA meet where the slide firing pin face was pitting where the cartridge seated. The guy sent it in, and it was sent back with a note that it's normal, to live with it. I would have gone bonkers.

That all said, again we are talking about the Ferrari's out there, and certainly you can get an awesome Kimber or Springer for a fraction of the cost that will still shoot better than you can and do the job just as well.  Kind of like getting a CVO. Sure there's lots of stuff out there that can probably do the job better, for much less money, but if you want the best of the best, it's gonna cost you.  That's what customs are all about.

Must add that I think the NH is a great full size 1911 but I'd argue perhaps none of their .45's are "compact"/ideal for carry as compared to an Springfield XDS or as mentioned below a Kimber Custom UCDP II--especially when you compare weight & capacity between these 3.  Having said that, I have a number of full size high capacity .45's (e.g. Springfield XDM; FNH FNX Tactical; Charles Daly; HK USP; etc) stationed throughout my home as well as in my vehicles for defense/backup to my carry weapons.   :2vrolijk_21: JMHO & 2-cents worth...Cheers, Moose

Those Nighthawks are sweet. Right on par with my Kimber Custom II 1911 full frame but for a CW I prefer my Kimber Super Carry or G23.

:nixweiss:   how's that  :nixweiss:
Exactly.

Kimber is a nice gun, I have a couple and love my Ultra CDP kimber.

however it is not in the same league as my Les Baer Stinger or either of my Ed Brown's.  The Nighthawks are more in line with the Baer and Browm.

My Ultra CDP II is my summer carry, great gun.  Reliable and accurate especially for a 3" barrel.

However my Winter carry, my Stainless steel Les Baer Stinger is far more accurate, and has never had a single hick up.

Yes I have XD's and FNH 45 also.

I prefer a 1911.

The Stinger is my favorite for carry, but a bit to big and heavy for summer.

For flat out shooting either my Brown Special Forces or my Brown Centennial Elite.

Comparing them to a Kimber is like comparing a Chevy to a MB.  Totally different leagues even if they are the same item.

My wife and I just applied for the Utah Conceled Carry Permit, non-resident.  Should have it this month, good in 38 states.  Not in the communist state of Maryland where we live.

Four more years and we'll be Maryland NON resindents!!!

Have been considering one of these two guns.
I'm sure there are a thousand opinions about other guns but was wanting opinions on these two.

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_765772_-1_757892_757752_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

or this one,

http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_766382_-1_757893_757767_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

Which one is more accurate?
Is the laser easy to use.
Which one is easiest to conceal carry?
Is 38 ammo easier to get than 380 ammo?
Pro's or con's of each please.
Thanks

Hey Chip, The Body guard 380 is the better of the 2. The laser is neat but not needed as it is basically a get off me gun. Real nice for concealed carry as it packs small. PM sent.

Interesting choice there Chip. The .380 is an easy little pocket gun that'll get the job done if your up close and personal. The revolver in .38 Special will leave no doubt when you hit what your shooting at. I'm a big fan of 9mm and if I was to carry I'd pick one of them. The Crimson Trace on the 9C is simple and works every time w/ no thinking. Squeeze the grip and it's there. The Shield is the easiest to carry. Single stack, 1" thick, one would, given the right IWB holster, not even know it's there for hours on time. The 9C has no external safety which I'd like because it's one less thing to think about and the shield has both a trigger and external safety. If I was to carry I'd carry the Shield almost all the time and the compact as maybe the expected environment dictated. I'd also consider, in the revolver/semi debate the ease of reloading. W/ lots of practice it's said one can reload a revolver very quickly. Might be true. W/ a little practice it is real easy to reload and get back on target.

The disadvantages of a revolver in concealed carry is that compared to a semi-auto they "print" easier through clothes so they can be seen easier, they can also dig into the wearer's body especially inside the waistband or in a pocket. The .38 special +P is not bad caliber though. I personally wouldn't mess with bells and whistles like a laser for a concealable self-defense weapon, it ads to the bulk, could slow your draw, and the batteries could fail just when you want them to work. Also statistically you will have no need for it since most self-defense shootings only involve one or two shots and is at 7 yards or less.
They seem to make so many subcompact 9mm ,40 cal , 357 sig and 45acp that I don't see the advantage to a 380 anymore (it is a 9mm short and has less stopping power and you need the right bullet configuration to have best results).
I know the old adage about a hit with a .22 is better than a miss with a .44 but if you can hit something with a faster and heaver round you should consider it. Remember you want to stop the other person's aggressive actions against you or a loved one as soon as possible. The 45acp like used in a Glock model 36 does the job well and you can use about any round in that caliber to do the job of self defense (no need to shop for the latest whiz bang round that may be hard to find.)

If you buy a auto do not buy a Smith get something else, Smith dose not make a very good auto IMO / But if you get a wheel gun Smith is one of the best out there IMO. I like a 380 or 45 auto for personal carry.

I would suggest that if you're looking for a good compact sized carry, get yourself a S&W Shield instead of the Bodyguards. With the larger mag, it fits the had well, and the 9MM, has way more stopping power than the .380 (AKA 9MM short) or .38. The Shield is the only carry gun I've considered other than my preferred 1911 Ultra/Pro which can get a little heavy after a while.

I highly recommend the S&W Shield too!  Finest 9MM carry pistol (for the money) IMO.  My brother lives in Illinois and he has the Body Guard with the laser which is kind of funny, but and he loves it?  Probably becasue he can only use it at the range , Illinois is still a good year away from making CPL legal?  I have a 380 loaded with hallows, I think it has plenty of stopping power as would most guns if you know how to use it  :nixweiss:  Based on where I am going, I actually carry my 380 more often than my 9mm simply because its easier to conceal and its lighter.  Can't go wrong with the Shield!
