you can still do that up here. Going to the range with a shotgun strapped to the handlebars does not get you pulled over here. I have a coworker that does it all the time.

XDS

My XDS is in a box and going to FedEx today for the recall.
SA just announced the repair is good to go and they have parts. And some will be getting a free 7 round mag with extension as a bonus.

Do you know what the criteria is for the bonus mag being awarded?

No criteria listed. It may be just for those that sent the items in when first announced and then they all sat on the shelf while SA made sure it worked.

Was just wondering, 'cause Rabbi sent his in before MV and is still waiting.  Maybe he'll get a free mag out of it.  har.  spyder

So, I assume you guys like your XDS pieces? I carry a .40 cal S&W Chief's Special (CS40) that is fairly easy to conceal and has a safety/decocker - but I really like the XDS and would like to move up to a .45 ACP "big boy" gun...

Word is they are expecting to begin shipping back to customers on Oct 21.

Yes, it's a nice little gun.  It's a bit unwieldy as a range gun, but it wan't designed to be.

Now that they have a fix, I guess I need to send mine back.

Yeah, you need to. There are probably quite a few people in line ahead of you though!

What do you mean when you say it's unwieldy as a range gun? Is it difficult to see down the sights?

If you are going to carry make sure that you are proficient.

Minimum standard?  Present your concealled firearm and fire a controlled pair in the thoracic cavity in less than 1.5 second from 7 yards.

Anything less than that. Don't carry. You are not proficient and will shot an innocent bystander.

Seriously, this is the MINIMUM.

Taurus Slim PT 740 Cal .40
Always loaded with Hornady ZOMBIE MAX 40 S&W 165 gr Z-MAX
Muzzle= 1175 fps  50 yds.= 1066 fps 100 yds.= 990 fps

Read up on some of the 45 ACPs' posts.
The above mentioned 740 with 40 cal. going through a 3.2" barrel is as bad as 1911 45 on recoil.
Not to be taken lightly, so I found out with the first 50 FMJs'
There is an adjustment time needed when the last time someone hasn't fired a top slide weapon in 50 years.
Just passing it along.

I just got an email from SA saying they upped the production and staffing and would start mailing out retro pieces on Monday.

Ken, Sights are good.
Unwieldy as in the 45 is a lot of pop for the small frame. The XDS is squared off much like the Walther PPS, and that can make for an uncomfortable grip for putting a lot of rounds downrange at the range.

AHHH... Gotcha, Duane. Thanks.

I have a friend who has an XDS .45, and he expects it back soon from the recall. He has offered to let me shoot it, and I intend to take him up on the offer. I have held it, and it's a sweet piece!
