Luckily I bought lots and lots of it 18 months ago.  I still have 2K plus rounds.  Been very hard to find since Dec of 12.

I've only a few hundred left myself and after searching what elite didn't have...I've realized the price on them is through the ceiling now. I last got green tips, ss198 I think, at $18 a box of 50. You can't even get the 195's close to that now :-\

The 5.7 is just plain fun to shoot.  Very accurate, recoil similar to a 22LR pistol.  Small round really with lots of powder behind it.  The highest muzzle velocity of any pistol, 2130 feet per second.  It has round available to the military and LE that will penetrate Kevlar vests, double stacked at 100 yards.  It has a very flat trajectory.  The anti gun folks just hate the pistol and call it a cop killer.  Took me a long time to spend the money as it is and expensive plastic gun.  Got it when my local gun store had it on sale for 995, and FN was offering a 250 rebate to Military.  I really do love to shoot the gun so does my wife, very accurate.

My 5" Ed Browns are a blast to shoot, and in them you can shoot the 230 grain 45 acp all day long.  My Les Baer Stinger, 4" barrel with officer grips it easy to shoot too.  Its my winter carry.  My summer carry is my Kimber CDP II Ultra which is a 3" barrel and officer grips.

I've been drooling over an Ed Brown Classic Custom.  Where is the best place to purchase one and how would you recommend setting one up (options).

Always carry. Ruger 380 LCP, Walther PPK, Sig 239 SAS 9mm. The Ruger is good for a maximum accuracy of 10 feet, and most confrontations are within that zone. I am retired military and have maintained most of my firearm proficiency by hitting the range frequently.  A Double Tap with the Ruger leaves me 5 additional rounds, which is plenty.

My biggest concern is those people who carry, that do not hit the range. They are just as dangerous as those that aim to do harm. They tend to Spray-N-Pray during extreme panic.  I recommend anyone who carries, hit the range a minimum of once a month, for 200 rounds.  It is best to hit it every 10-15 days, for 150 rounds minimum to retain proficiency and confidence. If you do not, then your results of your response may not be what you have visualized in your head. It is difficult to practice "Real-Life Training" scenarios like military units do, but constantly hitting the range and focusing on target acquisition and accuracy will improve your real life results. I recommend placing only a few rounds in High-Capacity magazines so that you focus on sending each round down range, analyzing its placement, then focusing on the next. 17 rounds in a magazine equates to 17 innocent by-standers. Visualize hitting a innocent bystander 100 yards past your intended target. Visualize that being a child. Conceal Carry is something every honorable American should do, its just that I believe we all should responsibly conceal carry.

Practice Point-Shooting technique until your grouping of 5 rounds, at 12 feet (measured), can be covered by a paper plate, then decrease the time it takes to send those 5 rounds to 3 seconds, then decrease the size of plate.

Me too, Cowboy. While I will probably never own a 'Ed Brown Custom' a man needs something to lust over besides 'Boobies'. I have always believed in quality over quanity, Dave is lucky smart enough to employ both ideas!!!!

Even better is to take a real training glass, minimum 50 hours. Don't think the CCW class is going to teach you anything about gun handling.

Front Sight is in my opinion a great school to start with. Clint (Thunder Ranch) and Gunsite are great places as well.

Rotarywing is dead on. Most(90%) of the CCP training classes are a joke. Watching a film teaches you nothing. Anyone that can't pass their shoot test has probably never held a pistol. As with most training courses on anything, if the Instructor don't care, you ain't gonna learn nuttin!!!

I go to Front Sight 3-4 times a year. Have 15 days of training already scheduled for this year. End of February is my first trip for the year.

Owner is annoying but the place is top notch and so is the training.

Not a lot of 'back-up' weapon, but it's so easy to conceal & carry, that I've always got mine on me.  spyder

a .22 Mag is a tough little round.  That's really a cool little pistol!  :2vrolijk_21:

I carry 99% of the time.  Either a Dan Wesson V bob, kimber pro carry, or glock 36, or Dan Wesson specialist. Depends on what mood I'm in
