My kid carried a Kimber custom, off duty and backup. He had multiple problems with it and ended up getting rid of it for a Nighthawk custom. Nice piece.
It took 750 rounds through my Kimber Ultra CDP before it was 100% reliable.  Once I shot another 250 with out hick up it became my carry.  The 3 Inch barrel is nice for carry but takes work to be reliable.

I also use a Les Baer Stinger for Carry now, it's a 4.25 inch barrel on the officers frame.  Very nice gun, much nicer than any of my Kimbers.

That's at least $400-$500 bucks in ammo to wear-in a Kimber.  They're just too tight for reliability from the get go.....a looser build (like a Colt) doesn't take as much breaking in.  Of course, the actual shooting is good for more than just wearing-in the pistol. ;)  spyder

Just added what will become my constant carry. Sig P250, Subcompact, .40 Cal

You'll love that handgun, it's my favorite personal carry.  Fits perferct in the inside a Harley jacket or vest zippered pocket just like it was made for that gun..  :2vrolijk_21:

The grip is a little short, need the extended 13 rnd mag/grip, you can use the standard mag for conceal and the extended for normal carry. I'm looking to get the P239, just a little bigger than the subcompact P250.

Very nice weapon the nighthawks are. However, their prices are way above my head.

I carry Colt Pocket Lite 380 but I have a federal law enforcement permit. I'm telling you guys DO NOT!!!! get caught carrying in NEW YORK it will be the worst day in your life. Even in uniform while going into New York I had to stop and secure my duty weapon at a local law enforcement agency or risk being arrested. They do not mess around in New York. The state of Ohio is just about as bad.

He a got a very good offer to make that switch. True, the NH's are pricey. More then 2x's the comparable K.

And Jersey.
But isn't it the city you are referring too?

he means New Yawk City (Nassau - Suffolk counties to be exact)
NY state does not reciprocate with other states, but police from anywhere, including Canada carry around the Buffalo area.
I've seen it.
I have a NY permit. good for anywhere in the state, EXCEPT  Nassau-Suffolk counties (NYC)

How can they ignore The Law Enforcement Officers Act of 2004? :confused5:

Here in Kentucky, you can get in trouble with the law if you DON'T carry.
