Tragic.  Same thing happened to me, but I barley missed the bird.  They move so slowly and are so big, it makes avoiding them difficult.

How sad......it is a sport that comes with risk....just have to accept it.

you just never know....lost a good friend  3 years ago when a turkey came through the window of his pick up.....go figure.....

Sad story.

The vultures around here fly poorly when scared.  I give them a very wide berth & avoid running through & scattering them.  Have been hit by a wild turkey.  Had slowed to avoid 5 of them walking single file across a country road.  The 6th one - the one I did not see - flew up & into me from the left ditch.  Almost knocked me off the bike.  Put a hell of a bruise on my left side from collarbone to lower ribs, and made a hell of a mess on the bike.

Had a big black crow die head first right in to the middle of the windshield of a pickup I used to have.  Loud and hard at highway speed.  Still remember that my very first thought was "that would have sucked on the bike."

I had a good friend hit one of the big vultures in GA.  He got it square in the front fairing on his Road Glide.  He was okay.  Shaken a bit and covered in bird chit.  It had just stopped raining so he had rain gear on.

4 months later I hit on on my Road glide.  Side of the fairing and the mirror on my handle bar.  It sliced the bird open and my bag seat and tour pack was covered with is intestines.

Those birds scare the crap out of me now.

Damn I can't believe this! It is very sad.  I have always slowed down around Vultures because they just don't seem to want to get out of the way.  I hate that this happened. My thoughts and prayers go out to their family.

Very tragic for sure. R.I.P.

We are not promised tomorrow and here only by the Grace of God.
