Warranty Question, Where?
« on: April 28, 2005, 09:48:19 AM »

Coming up on the end of my two year warranty. Was wondering if anyone found a deal for the extended 4 or 5 years anywhere? It's probably the same everywhere, but thought I'd check. Does the  (dealer) seller get a commission?

No re-tred, it's not the same everywhere.  At Chicago HD it's 20% off.  I told my dealership about that, they verified it and gave me the same discount.

Just to update, Chicago HD is offering 15 % discount. Still sound fair to me.
I believe the warranty would still be valid if the repair had nothing to do with the upgrade, might be wrong, but I think most dealers would work through it.

Dyno.....welcome to the site.  Looks like you're from just down the road a little.

The warranty issue depends a lot on the dealership.  My Race Tuner and previously, the Power Commanders on my two previous Ultra Classics has never been raised as an issue in warranty repair (stator, inner primary leak, and misc. electrical on different bikes).

Yes, Kng 103, you can buy your extended warranty from any dealership.

I have the RT & true duals, called the MOCO home office was told that only if a problem cropped up that could be directly traced to the adds, warranty was not voided

Sure can King.  The warranty is a US national contract.  When I got the red bike last fall Chicago HD was offering the longerst version of the service contract for almost three hundred bucks cheaper than my local shop would sell it for even when bought with the bike purchase.  I told the local shop, told them I would prefer to buy from them, and all they had to do was match the price.  Not beat it, just match it.  They said they "couldn't."  So I bought from Chicago Harley and got the same warranty ID card in my wallet to use anyplace in the country that I'd have gotten if I paid the several hundred more and bought the warranty with the bike locally.
