GREAT bike. 35000 on my 05 no problems.  when you service it in the future cut open the oil filter. any bright orange specks or pieces are the cam shoes. i went to gear drive around 20000 shoes looked fine :bananarock:

Van,  Thanks for pointing out what I can look for.  I am going to wait a bit before I replace the cams.
SE-Randy, I had to have my engine rebuilt in 2007 and am now just playing the roll of the dice game, trying to get as much as I can out of this engine before I do something different.  Not everyone had problems, but I did.  Left me stranded in Nelson, BC, and I live in Virginia.
Don't worry one bit about things though, you truly do have, as many have pointed out, the very best of the CVO line.  The 103 engines have just been fantastic.

Did the same as Van at about 17,000 miles.  Got disgusted every time I cut the filter apart and saw the orange specs..  Couldn't have been doing the motor any good and my shoes looked pretty good too for all the specs in the filter.

If the heated grips are in the budget, go with the heat deamons. I did and they are fantastic plus you can use them with any grips on the bike since they are just heating elements. My set have performed perfectly. :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks, I will look at those. We don't have much winter to worry about, and everything else is fine, just the fingers and toes. Maybe I will invent some microwave socks, hmmm........... :huepfenlol2:

It's ok Randy.  I understand.  Listen a moment to an honest voice of reason and you'll be more sanguine with the necessities.  You can pick it up when it's convenient for you.  Not when you get coerced into going after it.  You can research the model in the interim and be in more comfortable in the bike and its history when you bring it home.  You can use the interim to savor the purchase and allow the joy of new ownership and the impending rides you and the bike will to share to rise in your heart and in your soul.  And while you're doing all this some bastard is riding your bike and farting in your saddle.
