Duane, the cheapest seems to be Chicago Harley for $419.96.  MSRP is $525.00.  One thing to note if you go to Chicago Harley's website to order this particular part is that either Chicago Harley or HD has a typo for the part number.

HD on their website and in their literature shows it as an 04 part number (68094-04).  The part was released in 06 though.  But if you try 68094-04 at Chicago HD or Surdyke's online order sites the number doesn't work.  Make it an 06 part number, however, and you're good to go.

The posted number is fouled up all over the place though Brian.  The P&A catalog shows 06, the HD website shows 04, the printed diagrams you posted that come with the kit show 04 and I've seen one other Harley publication that shows 06.  It's enough to give a guy a headache  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Just had a thought (yes, it happens).  From everyone's descriptions so far the one thing that seems agreed it on most is the wider and brighter pattern of the HID low beam.  That being so then an ideal application for these lights ought to be anyone who got one of the new Street Glides that come out of the box without spotlights.

Question:

I know the HID light puts out a broader beam L to R, but how much does it extend the forward distance?

Also, when on high beam, does the wide beam stay on?

CD, the HID low beam does illuminate all the time.  So you'll gain the wide bright light all the time and high beam will then throw more light farther down the road.

Crawdaddy, Don's right, the low beam stays illuminated when the brites are on, but, as I mentioned above, the brite light's beam is very cylindrical and quite biased toward the center of the pattern.  So, while it extends the forward distance well, it only does so in a straight ahead fashion and not very much to the sides.  I would have preferred a nice, wide pattern similar to the low beam, but it's not happening with this light.  It can be somewhat of an issue when negotiating corners.

Spyder, currently they only list applications for the Electra Glide and Road King models.

Retrofit outside of the stated fitments would probably be tough too.  Road Kings will have the nacelle to give room to hold the extra pieces and the Glides of course can do it in the fairing.  But the softails just have the headlight cone.  So not much extra space.

I wanted to let everyone know about a deal that jeffj filled me in on in case anyone's considering one of these headlights.  Between Oct 7, 2005 and Jan 31, 2006, you can get $100 off of the installation cost when installed at your H-D dealer.  That's a (ballpark) 50% savings on the labor of this fairly labor intensive install!  Be sure to mention promotion #136 in case your dealer is not familiar with it.  Mine was not, but when I mentioned the promo number that jeffj supplied me with, they were able to look the promo up and give me a credit on my account!

Thanks to jeffj for saving me $100!!! [smiley=2vrolijk_21.gif]

St. Paul (MN) H-D routinely runs ebay ads for the HID headlights, but usually around $445, so not quite as competive as Chicago H-D. They have a great on-line/ebay sales group, not as big as Chicago, but a bit more responsive.Part Numbers 68043-06 & 68094-06 were listed today, here's the link to all their ebay sales items: http://stores.ebay.com/St-Paul-Harley-Davidson-Buell_W0QQssPageNameZviQ3asibQ3astoreviewQQtZkm
