Yellow 05 Pics - shades needed!
« on: September 11, 2004, 05:37:02 AM »

It looks very yellow to me. I am hoping that the actual bike has a more orangy yellow.

Has anybody stumbled accross any other pics of the 05 bikes which aren't yet posted here?

My 2002 Ultra doesn't have the fibreglass leg shield moulded along the crash bar towards the bike like this.

Does any one know if this new leg shield is a 2005 range thing or a 2005 CVO only thing?

Tony, those photos are a good representation of the "yellow-ness" of the color.  It is yellow and not orange/yellow.

All '05s have the new vented fairing lowers (where applicable) and are shaped as shown in these photos.

There is a great deal of metal flake in the paint so it will be very bright in the sun.

Tony - I own a 04 orange and black european model, the specs that the guys have in america are not quite the same as the ones in the uk there are a few differences

1. No smoked turn signals
2. Clear cut down screen not dark tinted
3. No garage door opener
4. standard stalk electraglide mirrors
5. Mileometer is in kph not mph (I have a mph on order FOC from my dealer)

I think from memory that was what I was missing, but you never know the 05's might be different.

To be honest, I really do not know - I wrote a formal letter of complaint and was told that these were the differences in the different country production runs! Oh and we also have a chrome edge to the front fender that you guys dont seem to have and when I was over in florida last month, I purchased a new set of mirrors and ordered a couple of screens. These items are half the price in the UK.

So now the Seeg looks as it should.

Mr Magoo,

I read somewhere here that the yellow is heavy on the metal flake.

Is that the yellow or the silver that is heavily flaked?

Have you seen one in the flesh or can you guide to more photos?

This one of the HD website shows a deeper yellow ........

A good day to you sir!

It is good to know that there is a fellow Englishman.

I know a little about radios and can tell you that DTI governs radio spectrum in the UK. All countries use different bands for different communications. So in order that we don't accidently launch any remote control burjurmeeflips you have to get things approved and it is a pain in the posterior.

The smoked screen, smaller mirrors and grey lenses all sound like safety issues. Our local after-market builder has to strip bikes back down to fit sensible pipes, indicators and mirrors to get a new custom through the single vehicle approval (SVA). I suspect when HD come knocking with a new bike that the beurocrats can be more stringent with them.

Maybe all this Europe nonsense dictates similar over caution in the rest of Europe and HD therefore just produce one over-engineered bike. Or maybe if it has same mirrors and lights it can get through on Ultra Classic approval number.

Or maybe I am just typing bollocks <g>

Darkvisorman,

You will probably say that I am being a little premature with my excitement as mine is a February 05 build. Delivery Feb or March.

London will be one of my earlier destinations as I have a few Harley friends there. Where in London are you?

A little too bright for me, especially when looking at the gauges...

Tony,It is the yellow that has the metal flake. Also I looked at the bike at Sturgis and would say that the photo at the top of this post is more accurate than the H.D issued picture taken in front of the rocks.
