43858-00 Chrome Headbolt Cover
« on: March 29, 2010, 09:26:10 AM »

I have been replacing some of the non-chrome pieces and parts on my CVO FLSTSE and have been disappointed on a few items.

43858-00 Chrome Headbolt Cover

Dealer said it was the right kit, everything I have researched says its the right kit...but the spark plug isn't in the center and the only way to get the plug wire attached is to do it while its loose and then tighten it down with the plug wire attached. You would have to remove the cover before you could ever get a spark plug socket in there to remove the plug. I was thinking about altering it , but it makes me mad that you spend x on these parts and they don't fit properly, like a glove.

What am I missing here??? Is there a differant part number for the CVO or is this just how it is going to fit....

Thanks

YPGUY, I had the same problem. Also, had a gear shift linkage cover not fit and amber turn signal light bulbs not fit. I guess we are going to have to wait for HD and after market suppliers to catch up on making items for the flstse.

Had the same problem with my 110 and finned head bolt/spark plug cover.  I can just get a spark plug socket on the plug with the finned bridge.

That part number won't work with the 110's without modifying it. It's not the bike, it's the 110 motor. The ACR moves the location of the sparkplugs off-center and therefore the clearance issue with the bridge covers. I put them on my SESG, ground them out from the back until it fit. Very hard to tell they have been modded at all once they are installed.

Do they make chrome pieces for the 110? Maybe we should start buying those for engine pieces?

They don't make these or the finned covers specifically for the 110.

Do you guys think these cause the bike to run hotter. I can see clear through the heads without these installed.
